Mike Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 This morning I took delivery of a selection of micro-tapes from Cammett, which consists of 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5 , 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 6.0, 8.0, and 10.0mm widths. Of these I ordered the 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0mm widths, and having used a few lengths of it this morning, I'm impressed. The tape is strong, tack is good but not too severe, whilst the narrow widths allow great flexibility of line, allowing quite small radiuses to be masked without wrinkling of the surface. I can't yet comment on how long this tape can be left on a model before leaving a residue or removing underlying paint, but it seems to lend itself perfectly to painting walkways, masking complex shapes, those yellow strips round some cockpit glazing, and small raised details too thin to be portrayed by styrene sheet. The tape is available direct from Cammett under masking materials, retailing from between £2.50 and £3.75 per roll, depending on width. At this time the 10mm tape doesn't appear to be listed on their site. Overall I'm impressed, and will report back on any issues relating to long "deployments".
