Richard Connell Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I found the following photo auction on e-bay, and I don't think this shot has been published. Note the "7Y" code for 805 squadron FAA. I believe the serial to be AX814, one of three Buffalo based on Crete. http://cgi.ebay.de/K-NL-Kreta-Flugzeug-deu...=item27b7847d38 Richard I am but mad north-north-west: when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw. - Hamlet

Thanks for this interesting contribution: it's a valuable addition to this thread from a while back. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...&hl=Buffalo I think AX815 identified by Sturtivant in his "FAA Aircraft of WW2" as having a large 805 Sq badge on the forward fuselage while at (from memory) Dekheila. Wonder a. if it was already marked "7Y" while at Dekheila and b. whether it retained the squadron badge during its sojourn on Crete. The French book by Couston has a photo of the port side of "7Z" but serial is in shadow. No evidence of a squadron badge in the position AX815 carried it.
