Applying a surface wash

Hello everyone,

I've been seeing some tutorials of people applying washes on 1:72 WW2 planes, and I have currently 3 at home, but I never applied a wash before so please bear with me

In those videos, I see two different techniques:

A-  Panel line washing - to highlight the panel lines

B-  Surface washing - provides some shadows to the model while also highlighting (I suppose not too much) the panel lines

For reference, I'll be painting these 3 next: https://www.super-hobby.pt/products/Battle-of-Britain-Memorial-Flight-Gift-Set.html, painting with acrylic paints

My questions are:

1) What do you prefer in terms of surface washing, Black + Burnt Umber or French Ultramarine blue + Burnt Umber?

2) What is the ratio between oil paint and thinner?

3) Since I'm using acrylic paints and clear coating with gloss spray, what kind of thinner should I use to minimize the risk of breaking the paint? Would this work? https://www.super-hobby.pt/products/AK-049-Odorless-Turpentine.html. Or should I use white spirit? (according to AK that turp is milder?)

Thank you so much in advance!
