  1. Hello, I'll start my appearance on this forum with my most recent build. The most complicated build I've done so far. It took me about 8 months to finish but that's due to moving house and then I didn't know where to start again:) Anyways, It's done. Had problems with painting as I wanted to do the hair laquer method for scratches and stuff. I was crying when after applying paint the next day, it was coming off and looked like a mess. Painted again and again. Finally I've managed to make it. There was a problem with the so called "magic tracks" made by Dragon. They not workable at all. If you assemble them without glue it falls apart If you use some glue, it's too stiff. Had to build it in sections like tracks in 1/72 scale models. I hope you like it:)
  2. Hi everyone. Just wanted to show you recently finished model. A Hasegawa 1/48th scale Stuka bomber. As usual couple words about the kit first. It was quite old kit, but as you can expect from this manufacturer still nicely moulded and detailed. One downside was the decals. They were yellowish after all those years. I didn't pay any attention to it until I reached the level when I had to put them on.. Followed the advices online, I left them in the window for couple days, in the nights for couple hours left them in the UVB light. Still a bit yellowish I was desperate to finish it, so put them on and.. well, most of the yellow tint disappeared! MAGIC:) Seatbelts homemade with masking tape and a bit of wire. Used only Eduard masks and swastikas by ExtraDecals. Build was going fine until the very last things to do.. While matt-varnishing it, Stuka Diving (important word) Bomber took his first dive into the ground, The pilot didn't manage to pull up and the aircraft crashed quite badly.. Fortunately I found all the pieces and left the german engineers do the work and there it is two days later: Enjoy! Thanks! Bart
  3. Hello everyone. Something different from me again. Found this kit on a car boot sale and bought it for couple quid. Now finally decided to build it. It's a nice easy kit to assemble. The harder part starts when it comes to painting it. I had couple ideas for it but decided to make it chrome finished. Everything was smooth and great: Of course I have used Alclad2 chrome, and finally after few tries I was really happy with the effect as you can see. Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the gloss level and decided to go for some clear laquer from halfords. Decided to use Enamel Spray Paint, blue can. Tested it on some old plastic parts and it was just perfect. But when I sprayed Porsche with it.. Well, all the magic that comes with Alclad disappeared leaving the model with a high glossy graphite metallic finish Still not too bad, but not what I wanted to achieve. I guess I should first spray it with some Pledge to secure alclad with acrylic and then use enamel laquer. I couldn't wash it off, as it was quite a thick layer and it will probably ruin the whole model. Anyways it still looks suprisingly good It's more glossy then it appears on pictures (well, on some you can see it). I had a lot of problems with decals. The kit was 17 years old and It took 2-3 minutes in the water before decals were moving on the decal sheet. Then they were really fragile and even with a soft brush they were falling apart. Lucky enough I have a lot of Set and sol, that helped. Inside on one of the pictures you can see carpets made with a grass flock, then painted red. I think it does the trick and imitate the carpets quite well. No more talking. Enjoy! Thanks! Bart.
  4. Hello, I've just recently finished this poor detailed and annoying kit. It comes with a brilliant set of decals thou. On the model, there are 157 all together. Three days of work just on decals:) Anyways, there it is: Thanks for any opinions. Bart.
  5. Hello, I'd like to introduce you one really old model I just finished recently. I've added aluminium barrel and Eastern Express tracks. Was really struggling with the tracks. They were falling apart pretty much every couple minutes while working on the rest. I'm not happy with them, but still better than rubber crap inlcuded in the kit. I've also had problems with decals. I think it was due to the age of the kit (42 years old!) and they haven't come off the decal sheet even after good 10 minutes spent in water. Finally I've managed to put on the small one instead of "For Stalin", which I wanted to put on. Plus it silvered a bit. Anyways, there's the result: Thanks for any advices and such. Bart.
  6. Hello, There is my latest finished build. Quite easy and had no problems with the build. Decided not to do the factory paint job as I didn't like the maroon. Instead, I've painted it in Alclad2 Cobalt Blue. Enjoy:)
  7. Hello, I've build this some time ago, but as I just joined, decided to show some of my builds, this is one of them Build itself, relatively easy, a lot of work inside, but then decided not to show a thing, as Spitfire will be hang somewhere. Putting nose together was a bit of a pain, but finally finished. Hope you like it. Enjoy. And a 3D image for those who know how to watch cross-eyed 3D pictures:
