We were at a loose end this afternoon, so I decided it was time the Boy started reducing the quantity of models in his stash before it started taking up my space! We've been sitting here working on one of the Ark Models Ratas that Julien sent back after reviewing for the Boy to cut his modelling teeth on. The moment I suggested it he was super-excited, and couldn't wait to have a go with his airbrush - one of those £4 cheapo ones mentioned on the forum. We've not yet got round to using the airbrush, but he has had a go of a rattle can, done some major-league clipping off of parts from the sprues, sanding, fitting and gluing. I've done 99% of the cutting for obvious reasons, but the rest has been his work, with some guidance from me on where to glue, how to hold parts and so forth. Here's where we're up to so far
We've painted the engine black too, and will be dry-brushing that shortly. We managed to put the wrong upper cowling insert on due to me not paying attention and not realising there were spares initially More pics as and when he's ready. I think he's a bit bored by now, so we'll be leaving any further work for another day. I'm pleased with his work so far. He's good at following instructions... for the most part
