Hifolks, I have another Tamiya corsair to make so I thought I would use it to do my first wip. The aircraft will be finished as JT371 of 1833 Sqn based on HMS Illustrious. The aircraft was flown by Lt N.Hanson on several occasions, notably during the attack on Sabang and Port Blair. The kit is well known but I will use the MDC conversion kit which comes with several resin parts for the cockpit, air scoops, prop and fuel tank. I aim to display it with wings folded and flaps up. I have added a few ignition wires to the engine. The flaps have had their attachment points cut off and require new ones to go through the existing holes but are shown here glued in. Here the flaps are up on the outer wings and the necessary cut has been made on both wingtips. I'll use some clear sprue to create the wingtip lights.

Hi folks, Here is the latest aircraft to roll off of the production line. Tamiya F4U-1D corsair made as a Royal Navy corsair of Sub-Lieutenant Clark, 1833 Sqn, HMS Illustrious, April 1945. It started out as JT634 137/P but became JT634 as 147/Q. However I initially used photos of a different 147/Q which means the camo pattern is slightly different. Firstly I must say thank you to iang and Simon who replied to my responses over here and provided some very useful information: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234978371-photo-required-faa-corsair-mkii-jt634-137p/ I used Xtradecal for the aircraft and I think the 'Q' is a little too small as most photos show it to cover that section of the tailplane forward of the rudder. However the decals went on very well over Alclad Aqua gloss with no hint of silvering. I seem to have forgotten the underside photos so I will add those later. Aircraft was airbrushed with Xtracrylix ANA olive drab, Dark Slate Grey for the overpainted roundel, EDSG for the tailplane under the 'Q' and Sky with Humbrol 125 for the grey. An enamel wash was used for the recessed panel lines. I used the MDC kit for the drop tank, props, seat conversion, air scoops and some details in the cockpit. The undercarriage and engine have copper wire added to them. The wings have had the necessary width cropped and the lights were made from some clear sprue sanded down. As an aside I really recommend reading Norman Hanson's book 'Carrier Pilot' and also Henry Adlam's 'Life on and off the Flight Deck'. Both of which take place with the British East Indies fleet and the British Pacific Fleet. PS : Iang, I will add those gear cover markings!
