I have re-organised the RNZAF part of the website. It has now been split into four with the current schemes on the first page. As part of the RNZAF re-org the DC-3 and DH89 listings have moved to "WARBIRDS" and the Sunderland MR5 to RNZAF 40-60. Re-issue - P3K Orion 50th Anniversary tail decal in 1/72, 144 and 200. As this needs the current P-3K/K2 decal it is listed in the "current" schemes page beneath that decal. New to the website are the Convair 580s - Air Chathams and Air Freight NZ in 1/72 and 1/144 – although I issued these decals in November 2012 somehow they never got added to the website. Earlier this year I updated all three Mount Cook Airline HS748 schemes and issued a new decal of a variant to the first scheme carried by ZK-DES. These are available in 1/72 and 1/144. Updated: Twin Otter - the Mount Cook Twin Otters has been split into three - one per scheme - allowing a big price drop. Cessna 402 - likewise the Capital Air Services sheet has been split into 5 schemes at a much reduced price. The RNZAF TAF Mustangs in 1/24 and 1/32 have been split into four decals by Squadron to enable the cost to be lowered. The 1/48, 72 and 144 scale decals remain as one set covering all 4 NZ TAF Squadrons. All the RNZAF decal sheets that contained a white sheet have also been changed. I have become aware of some difficulties where light colours printed on the clear sheet but to be placed over dark background paint tend to vanish. I was also made aware that many people find it difficult to cut out exactly the decals on the white sheet without either some white showing or damaging the decal. All decals in these two categories are now printed on the white sheet but placed on a coloured background matched to the colour the paint should be allowing them to be cut out close but not so close as to damage them. Two overseas and one NZ modelers worked with me on this and have confirmed this works and the light colours no longer disappear. The most changed decal set is the SEA A4. Now the bad news. Unfortunately the larger decals have had to be increased in price, but many 1/144 and almost all 1/200 sets have dropped. This is the first increase since I started Oldmodels Decals two years ago. The increases were forced on me by a mid 2012 large increase in raw decal costs which I absorbed at the time followed by a recent massive recent 250% hike in parcel postage costs in the USA from where the decal sheet manufacturer resides. In addition the costs of the ink cartridges for the printer and cans of sealant have also been creeping up steadily over the last two years. On the other hand, working on better ways to pack a decal sheet has allowed me to reduce the price of many smaller decals. John Oldmodels Decals www.oldmodelsdecals.com

Yes, OldmodelsDecals does do the black ATR72. Funnily enough they aren't selling well down under - I am getting more orders from elsewhere in the world than NZ/Aust. Problem "down under" is the apparent complete lack of retailers stocking F-RSIN products and the perceived cost of shipping kits from overseas ("perceived" because in this case I don't agree - I think Laurent's shipping rates are very reasonable). Then there are those that prefer to buy from a shop the "see before you buy" brigade, and those who will not risk buying on-line for a whole variety of reasons. Oh, and yes, I also do the black B1900Ds in 1/72 and 1/144 and the A320s (meant as supplement sheet to the kit decals in this case) in 144 and 200. In each case the bulk (all for the A320) of the decal is printed on white decal sheet on a black background on a high (photo) quality inkjet decal. Regards John

Alan, Oldmodels Decals does the RNZAF MK5 and a NAC version of the RNZAF MkIII. Whilst currently issued in 72, 144 and 154 I can scale these up to 48th if there is a demand. My MK5 has full details produced from RNZAF Museum research - the "sample decals" on the Sangar site suggests they will be very basic (roundels, fin flash and codes only). Hi Tony, It is a work in progress. It will be released in 72 and 144. I started it some months ago then shelved it awaiting a detailed photo shoot and other info that one of the IPMS Waikato members did for me and recently received. This will result in a totally new set of decals for the white birds and the black birds. The wealth of detail provided means it will be as detailed as my military decal sets so will be a big job. I am saving it until over the Christmas/New Year period when i have time to tackle it. I will also do the changes for the 2013 scheme announced a few months ago but will not release it until the first repainted aircraft appears (same with A320, B737, Dash 8, ATR72). Regards John

OLDMODELS DECALS Announces some improvements and updates to the three NAC DC-3 schemes, Electra 10, Lodestar and Heron including new NAC and Union Airways logos. Oldmodels decals announces the addition of the much asked for RNZAF C-130H High Visibility decals to its range. These decals cover the delivery and 1980 High Vis schemes in one (large) set. This completes the range of RNZAF C130 decals (both low viz schemes being already available). The decals of all three sets are available in 1/48, 1/72, 1/144 and 1/200.
