Hi just to let everyone know about the colour scheme of the Revell Lancaster
Black / Light Grey
This is used mainly in the cockpit and the forward interior walls along with the bomb bay ceiling and navigator/radio instruments
Sea/Green
This is used for the bomb bay floor and aft interior walls and navigator/radio walls
Everyone is most likely correct and this is Humbrol 78
Dark Green/Olive Brown
Is for the Bombs
For the bombs I will use Humbrol 75
Steel/Rust
Is for the exhausts
For these I’m thinking of using either Brass or Bronze Humbrols 54 or 55

Hi
I have just started my Revell 1/72 Lancaster, I’m going to be building a Mk.III, and due to Revell mixing some of the paints, I’m not sure which Humbrol to use instead
These are the ones I’m having trouble with
Revell Humbrol
Black 95% & Light Grey 5% Matt & Matt 08 & 76 33 & 64
I think that this colour should be Humbrol Dark Slate 32 or Tarmac Grey 112
Revell Humbrol
Sea Green 70% & Light Grey 30% Matt & Matt 48 & 76 88 & 64
I think that this colour should be Humbrol Mid Green 101
Revell Humbrol
Steel 25% & Rust 75% Metallic & Matt 91 & 83 191 & 113
Haven’t got a clue about this one
Revell Humbrol
Dark Green 33% & Olive Brown 67% Matt & Matt 39 & 86 116 & 26
I think that this one is Humbrol Khaki Drab 159
If anyone has a better idea of what these colours should be please let me know, thanks.

The Matchbox kit was never a great fit either. I built one when first issued and I was surprised by the amount of filler I had to use, more so when compared to most other Matchbox kits.
I still have a Matchbox Meteor in an Xtrakit box, an advantage of these is that today they can be found for cheap. Not that the SH kit is expensive, IMHO it's priced right.
I tried to build the Matchbox Meteor NF 14 a few years ago, lets just say that my spares box gained some more jet parts. It was the nose that messed it up for me, for some reason I couldn't get it to sit straight, the Meteor looked like it had been punched in the face, it was that skewed. You're right about the filler as well, I stopped the build at one point and started on something else and as soon as the nose wouldn't go on straight I realised I was done with it.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to go with the A.W. Meteor NF Mk.14 "The Last of the Night Fighters"
I have the XtraKit Meteor Mk.8. I got it because it was about £10 cheaper than the Airfix kit.

I've been thinking of getting a Gloster Meteor either the Mk 11, 12 or 14 and have decided that Special Hobby probably do the best kit in 1/72 anyone have any idea which kit is the one to get to represent the last RAF Night fighter?

The postman delivered a few kits yesterday and today, Eduard Profipack 1/72 Spitfire F Mk IX, Airfix 1/72 Panavia Tornado F.3, Airfix BAe 1/72 Harrier GR9A and a Trumpeter 1/72 Challenger 1 Desert Version.
The Tornado and Harrier are replacement kits so I'll either be adding some stuff to the spares box or having a spare parts sale in the near future.

I Solved the problem with my Harrier GR9A I found the same kit going cheap on eBay £12 so got that and I my use some of the spare parts for other builds.
I'm going to use a fuel tank and turn it into a centreline tank for my Academy MIG-23S and sell the rest of the kit as spare parts.

Not sure how much including shipping to the UK.
I have that model, if you include shipping and how long it would take to get to the UK, its probably cheaper to get it from the UK.
I paid £27.50 for mine on eBay

I thought I'd start this topic just to vent.
Just starting my 1:72 Airfix BAe Harrier GR9A. I go to put the exhausts together and lo and behold one of them is missing off the sprue, I think I see it in the box so I carry on building the other three go to get the missing one and it's vanished, after looking everywhere for the missing pieces I realised that it has been taken by the invisible plastic part eater. I say to myself "I know I, sob, I'll look for some resin parts" and as my luck would have it at the moment they only available from Australia and it would be cheaper to buy a brand new kit. So that is one build that has been put on hold until there are some cheap replacement parts for sale.
My next kit is the Mistercraft AH-1G Cobra 'Pale Rider' I start to take the parts off the sprues and, It's bad, Very Bad. After gluing the bits of poor quality plastic what they euphemistically call the cockpit I have to concede to myself that I may be able to use the weapons on another kit.
So does anyone else have their own stories of when builds went pear shaped.

You could try Kingkit:

Safer and possibly cheaper than some auction sites.
(I have no connection with Kingkits. Well, apart from parting with copious amounts of cash in that direction 😂)
I went with King Kit and Ordered the Fujimi 1/72 H-7 Phantom FGR.2 Firebird.
Cheaper than eBay by about a couple of quid.
Thanks to everyone who helped me get some excellent models for my collection, the help is much appreciated.

Being a fan of the Warhammer 40K Novels for some time, I'm going to try my hand at doing some of the miniatures. I recently got a Necron Royal Warden and I think in order to do it justice, I'm going to have to get the Citadel paints and some of the smaller paintbrushes.

Just realised that I have another Phantom II the Revell F-4J Phantom II #03941 Its the US Navy one, VF-84 in the Box Art. It's part of my late 60's Carrier Deck, I'm just getting the Fighter/Bombers A-6A, A-7A and the F-8E.

I think I'm going to sell the FROG kit and buy another Fujimi kit for the RAF version as there is hardly any difference, pricewise, between the Fujimi kit and the new tool Airfix between £30 to £35.
So saying that can anyone recommend the kit for the RAF FGR.2 version?
Looking on scalemates it appears that one of the few is the Fujimi FGR.2 Last British Phantom No.19 Squadron 1983 #72193.

Thanks for all the advice on the various kits.
I have got the Fujimi kit British Phantom II FG.1 XT864/007/R of No. 892S SQ "Silver Jubilee" Royal Navy #F-59-722726
I think I might use my FROG Phantom kit as a RAF Build
-
Thanks for all the advice for the kit I think I'm going to go with a Fujimi FG.1 kit it seems like the best option and the cheapest, Fujimi are going for about £30 and the Airfix for about £35.

I'm looking to get a Phantom FG.1 and I think I've narrowed it down to 3 choices
The Fujimi Phantom II FG.1 XT864/007/R of No.892Sqd. "Silver Jubilee" Royal Navy No.72272
The Airfix McDonnell Douglas Phantom FG.1 No.A06019
The Italeri F-4M Phantom FG.1 No.1434
Any help with picking the right kit
I've got the FROG kit and the detailing is not great.

I completely forgot about those decals they would be really helpful.
There is 10 different Tail Insignia that comes with the Decal Sheet, 3 Anti-Flash and 7 for the Cammo versions you also get faded Roundels along with normal ones.
I have the XH558 'Vulcan To The Skies' kit and at the moment I am just getting all the External updates for it as I don't think that there is much point in getting the internal PE kit as you wouldn't be able to see it.
-
I have the GR.9 Gift Set which looks like it will build to a really nice model. It's just behind my AG-1G Cobra in the build queue but ahead of the MIG-23 and MIG-27.

My thoughts exactly. The aircraft was designed with Aircraft carriers for their primary usage.
It seems a bit strange to me that the Americans have the F-35B as a Carrier Based Aircraft while also having the F-35C which is also a Carrier Based Aircraft but is not STOVL.
I expect that the answer is that the US Marines have the B version and the US Navy has the C version

It looks like I'll be getting the Italeri Sea Harrier FRS.1 Falkland Island 40th Anniversary Kit.
I would have thought that Airfix would have done a new tooling of an iconic British Aircraft.

Thanks I plan on making her like the anti flash white corgi diecast. I'm sourcing all the decals for it currently but I am not sure if she needs any underwing serials or roundels.
Same as me I got the Kits World Avro Vulcan B Mk.2 Early to Late # KW172214 It has 3 different Insignia for the Anti-Flash Vulcan

I have the XH558 and I think that the new Vulcan is a better tooled Avro Vulcan B2 with better internals and more detail on the kit.
IMO I would just build the kit and then paint it in XH558 colours and use XH558's decals and if anyone asks tell them it's XH558 after the refit. 😜

Thanks for all the replies, I have a clear idea of how I'm going to go about painting the Lancaster now.
