T-Tango Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Now this book is obviously not for everybody but for anyone seriously interested in figure modelling it is a veritable bible. I had to do quite a lot of searching to find a copy but when it arrived last Thursday it blew me away, the auther Danilo Cartacci, an Italian, is possible one of the best figure modellers in Europe if not the World and does this book show it. The book is an A4 size paperback of 126 pages in full colour, it's not cheap at £21.99 but the quality more than outweighs the price, quality reference books don't come cheap. He covers everything in the book. The tools required. The paints, he covers oils and acrylics. Preparing the model. The painting, this is where the book comes into its own as each step is followed by numerous colour photographs building up the shading and highlights to the finished step eg. face, uniform or regalia. He covers the painting of flesh, uniforms, metals, wood, fur and even tartans. Even painting your own heraldic symbols on medieval knights. Painting horses. Dioramas. He finishes with making complex models, and the book concludes with a gallery of his work. At the moment, the book is hard to find but I have read somewhere that Auriga Publishing are going to reprint it. Pete
MASH4077 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 This item is currently available for £34.99 plus postage from WORLDWARTWOBOOKS on E-Bay and also from AMAZON. A bit much for a softback. Tony
T-Tango Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 Yes, I saw it on Amazon for £34.99, but managed to trace my copy down for £21.99 and even had 10% knocked off that because it had a very tiny bit of damage to the rear spine.
