Ongoing DDoS Attack causing Forum Slowness

This announcement is no longer active

Mike

Deja vu all over again.  Due to yet another a Denial of Service attack from a well-known dodgy subnet of crims for hire.  If you're feeling like you're experiencing a glitch in the Matrix, you're not wrong.  This is the same MO as the attack in September 2016 that occurred when we transitioned to the new version 4 of the software, and the one we experienced recently after a small system update.

DDoS attacks are seldom random, but instead have an agenda, either to ruin a competitor, leach traffic because people can't be bothered slogging through the treacle-like sloth, or just pure malice.  They're usually commissioned by someone with a motive, which makes them worse than the random "scrawling on your site with a crayon" type attack.  It's probably by now pretty obvious who feels it's a good idea to mess with Britmodeller (aka, you the members that want to be here), but I doubt it'll stop them.  They're just a small group of small people that take delight in destroying the work of others to make themselves feel good.  If you listen to them ranting about us on their favourite haunting grounds, you'd think they were referring to a different site, but then they've never let the truth get in the way of a good story. :dull:

Please bear with us in the interim, and wish us luck in dealing with these.... "people".  At the end of the day, they're just spoiling your enjoyment of your hobby.  Isn't that nice of them? :fraidnot:
