I was really excited to see this news! This P-40 belongs to a friend of mine down in Mt. Pleasant, TX. He's got an absolutely amazing collection, including Hap Arnold's personal C-41 that he used during the war. He's also got the sole remaining (airworthy) example of a J2F Duck, which is a survivor of the Pearl Harbor bombing.

It is and it was used on the A-10C, though I don't know if it is anymore.

Here's a couple of C's with the Pavy Penny fitted.

Here's a C with it and the mount removed.

The pave penny (AN/AAS-35V) was used pretty extensively in the 80's and 90's but it was phased out once the LITENING and Sniper targeting pods came online. Even though the Pave Penny was phased out, the pylon stayed attached to the jet until the early 2010's at which point it started getting removed altogether, leaving behind the 4 bolts just aft of the nose gear door on the foreword fuselage. So it's possible to have seen an early A-10C fitted with the Pave Penny, but it was probably inoperative at that point. If you're going to build a pre-2010 aircraft you could get away with including it in your build, but if it's a post-2010 Hawg you may want to consider deleting it.

With the tagline “Feel the need”, I’d probably put money on a TopGun-related release as was previously mentioned. A Super Hornet would make the most sense to me considering their history of producing Hornets and they don’t currently have any in the Super range (-18E/F, EA-18G).

  4. I had a dream last night that they would be releasing a 1/32 P-38M. In the dream, I was racing the train that Tamiya had all of their gear loaded on and as it was going over a bridge the engineer threw me a T-shirt. At first glance, the T-shirt was a plain green affair with nothing on it, then I had the idea of looking at it under a black light and the words “New 1/32 P-38M” magically showed up on the sleeve. I tried taking a picture to upload to this forum, but whenever I tried to do so it uploaded random pictures of cars. Then my keyboard would disappear. By the time I actually got it uploaded, the announcement had already been made.

    Dreams are weird.
