Nev Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Very nice, and now that you're back from Great Yarmouth, hopefully you can get stuck into this baby. Will she be a prototype or an in-service whiff?
Mattie Bee Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 Will she be a prototype or an in-service whiff? I have to do a little research, to find out which made it to waddo on the Trials Unit and it will be done as that
Mattie Bee Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 (edited) Sorry no updates for a while, With detachments and work commitments, I've just been getting on with it So here we are now, just waiting to add the little details After some research, I found out that XZ285 was the first Nimrod to reach the Nimrod AEW Joint Trials Unit at Waddington so she will be built as her and also did not recive a IFR Probe Edited September 26, 2008 by Mattie Bee
Tony Whittingham Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Hello Mattie, That is marvelous. I am too chicken to try it with my Nimrod, which is in the pending stash. Cheers, Tony
bexwh773 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 She might be going slowly Mattie, but shes a mighty fine looking lady Bex
JJL567 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Very nice work Mattie. I have one of these conversion sets waiting, how did you find the general fit of everything once you had cut and filed? Secondly, as far as decals go has anyone released any for the AEW yet? (I'm a bit out of touch) Cheers, Jon
Mattie Bee Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 The fit was not bad at all. It was a little tricky around the Nose Undercarriage but overall slotted in nicely For decals I am using a mixture of: Kit Stencil Markings MA Roundels And I have made my own Serials
Mattie Bee Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 Made a start on the decals now, still a fair way to go though. My home made Serials have seemed to work well
bexwh773 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Mattie, Id keep her for myself personally, accidently forget to hand her over when shes finished Loking very nice now, nearly there Bex
smeds Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Building one of those at the moment (amongst other things) just used an airbrush for the first time, using Vellejo hemp on it, very pleased with the results so far. Hope mine looks half as good as yours. Nice one. Smeds
