Mattie Bee Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Its been a long haul but finally....................... She's finished Nimrod AEW3 XZ285 Nimrod Joint Trials Unit RAF Waddington 1985 Off to Waddington Ops she goes
AnonymousFO98 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 super duper- well done mattie like it a lot- how much weight did you have to stick in there that bulbous rear looks amazing (i say that to all te girls and wonder where i'm going wrong!?) love the way the fin looks slender then topped by the housing- Picasso would have been pleased with that!
Mattie Bee Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 how much weight did you have to stick in there Not sure on the weight, It says in the conversion kit, I just packed it with 1 Pence pieces
KiwiSteve Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Great build Matt, but you have to admit thats one ugly looking aircraft
kitnut617 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Very nice, I will just have to get on with mine now after seeing this.
Guest snipersmudge Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 tis an ugly bugger but a super build none the less
avro683 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Great build Mattie as always. Did you use the kit gear or have you bought the Heritage replacement set? Tony
Mattie Bee Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Did you use the kit gear or have you bought the Heritage replacement set? The kit Gear, just shortened it till it looked right
Mattie Bee Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Does this count as a What if? RAF Waddingtons Nimrod Fleet of R1 and AEW3?
Fmk.6john Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Amazing stuff Mattie, wish I could have seen them in their day. Regards, JB.
Mattie Bee Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 wish I could have seen them in their day. Me also At risk of upsetting the Experianced Members I was only just born when XZ285 joined the Joint Trials Unit ar Waddo
Richard E Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Does this count as a What if? RAF Waddingtons Nimrod Fleet of R1 and AEW3? A breeding pair ............... Both very nice.
Nev Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Gorgeous! Lotsa AEW Nimrods being built and I'm loving it
Geoff_B Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Does this count as a What if? RAF Waddingtons Nimrod Fleet of R1 and AEW3? Hi Matt Lovely build there, nice to see some more now starting to appear. As to a whiff, if you did one in the greys of The R1 with the E-3 markings and probably an updated aerial fit then that would be a real nice Whiff although your mates on the Sentry's might take the hump upon seeing it Cheers Geoff
Sten Ekedahl Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Very nice build! Agree it's not the prettiest aircraft ever designed, but never the less, I think it has a certain elegance. Reminds me of Farnborough 1982 where I saw one of them do a fly past. Yes, I am that old!
Richard M Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Superb build, I hope I can do as good a job on mine! The instructions state an additional 75g of weight be added to the nose to keep it on the ground. Best Rich
