Took this book out the library on Saturday - its an absolute treasure trove of pictures

Tigerbook1.jpg

It's 400-odd pages, with 2 pics per page on most of them. I could do without the potted history of every unit - reading it you'd never knew Germany lost the war! We read that 1 unit of Tigers in Tunisia destroyed 130 British tanks in 2 engagements right before they were evecuated! The Tunisia campaign reads as one long littany of German heroic defenses and brutal counter-attacks :hobbyhorse: clearly Mr Schneider missed the memo about the Germans losing more men there than Stalingrad...

But I digress. The pictures, oh the pictures! Mainly from vets personal collections they offer all kinds of interesting detail and diorama ideas.

What surprised me was the sheer quantity (literally dozens) of pictures of Tiggers that had crashed through bridges. Or were stuck in mud.

So yeah, get it for the pictures. Like I said, a real treasure trove.

At nigh on 57 ton all up it's no wonder the things fell through bridges or got stuck in the mud.

But yeah,it's a great book.I bagged it from our library when I did my 1/16th Tiger.
