Romanian bf-109 G-6

Recommended Posts

Started two years ago, just finished!!!!

OOB, I've only made the harness for the pilot's seat.

Aeromaster Decals 48-310 Foreign 109.

Not really satisfied, still need to improve my skills, but this kit taught me a lot.

I've made a BIG error concerning the white fuselage band, which I've painted to far forward...

:shithappens:

And then as there was a lack of place for both the roundel and the "9" forward, I've put the "9" right on the band...2nd big error, as there was certainly no ARR 109 with the number on the band...

This bother me a little, as there is a special story behind this aircraft.

He was flown by an ARR 12 victories ace, Trajan Darjan, who was shot down and killed in this aircraft on 25 february 45 by hauptmann Helmut Lipfert, a 203 kill experte from I./JG53 above Hungary.

Lipfert's victory was never confirmed...

Thats what it's all about Antoine. It looks great to me. And if you are worried about things like fusealge bands being too far forward then that shows you are developing that critical eye that can only help to inform ignorant folk like me! Nice one.

Antoine, Ive just started building WW2 German Warbirds, right now Im building a 1:48 Bf109 G-10, and if it turns out only half as good as yours, I'll be mega happy. As for the white band, I would never have known it was too far forward, I wouldnt worry about a little detail like that. My Ju87 doesnt even come close to this one matey, Goodjob?? You bet, its a cracker :worthy:

Bonsoir Antoine

Now that's a cool subject, and a nice model. And you know my exagerated love for the 109 !!!! :who-let-rip::angrysoapbox.sml:

Indeed a tad clean for me, but you know too, I love them messy !

Nice to see one of your models even if it's a 109 .... :evil_laugh:

encore bravo :)

I know, Steph.

I'm sorry, as I plan to build some more sooner or latter.

But they will be Italian, Finnish, Hungarian, Slovakian, Bulgarian, or even Croatians.

Indeed a tad clean for me, but you know too, I love them messy !

You're right anyway, I've messed up the weathering a little...

Too, Antoine, there isnt always a precise placement. Photos show that IN GENERAL< you are too far forward. BUt others show that occasionally, there was variation.

Antoine the only thing i can comment is that the canopy at the front looks fogy...except that this is an amazing job mate!!!!!!

You're right Periklis, I've forgot to tell that I've also messed up the varnish coat's application...

And if you try a closer look, you'll also see that the canopy's frame is very badly painted.

One more lesson to learn from this build.

Nice 109. I have a friend who is Romanian and was gonna make him a Romanian bird. This has inspired me. Thanks for posting.

Tim

here are Denes's comments:

Just a few notes on markings following a casual look at the model:

Indeed, the white band is too far forward, and the "9" should not be over it. Also, the octane fuel number should not overlap the fuselage cockade (it should be underneath it). No extra fuel tanks are known to be used by ARR '109s in the anti-Axis campaign. Finally, generally, the aircraft should have had more weathering, dirt, and the former Luftwaffe or pro-Axis ARR markings were painted over.

But if you really want to start building anything flying with Rumanian marking from ww2 era, the best thing you've to do is contacting him on this forum.

You just have to start another thread.
