F-104 Starfighter cockpit

Recommended Posts

G'day people,

Here are some pics of my 1/12 Starfighter cockpit kit that I built a while back. This kit (and its sister F-16 cockpit kit) have since both been re-issued by Italeri.

I used the Verlinden Lock-On Volume 1 to detail up the seat as the seat belt arrangement was very simplified and/or incorrect.

A very nice kit, the kits did not sell very well initially and so the range never expanded beyond the two kits. A shame as it would have been nice to see more modern aircraft cockpits released.

Amazing!

Thanks very much fellas, wow what a blasy from the past!

Moodrome, the glass effect was simple, I just applied 3-4 applications of Future floor polish over the decals.

One thing I remembered is that the kit seat harness for the GQ-7A is not correct. My kit was an original Esci boxing so it may be different since the Italeri re-pop but the seat straps supplies were the wrong colour and rhe strap arrangement was also incorrect. I basically made my own pattern using the kit seat strap materials and just repainted them. I used one strap as is which is the reddish brown strap. The original strap ameterial was all supplied in this colour,

cheers,

Thank you ! I didn't get to the seat yet but I will keep in mind your tips . As for the instrument panel I'm afraid we don't have this future brand in Italy... I will check what I can find.

Daniel, although I used Future, I am sure that any gloss varnish would work, but just make sure it will be compatible with the declas first. Model paint varnishes like Tamiya and Vallejo are designed to work with decals so these should be okay,

Hi mate

I built the same  kit while back and one can notice its a very old kit from the 70's. But your result is very awesome and a outstanding work. Really a stunner.

Yes its a shame they dont released more cockpits, i would be happy about a F-4F Phantom cockpit.
