theplasticsurgeon Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 This is the goal - http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=0782...&photo_nr=3 This is what I aim to use to get there in 1/48 Deadline is end of March - latest. This kit was ruduced from £13.99 to 7.99, and has lurked in my stash since Nov 1996! More progress and pictures soon.
dahut Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Smashing photo of 41 Sq Jag. Im doing the same in Winter Exercises Coat. Looks superific.
theplasticsurgeon Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 This is what I've been doing during the Christmas break. Close-up of the cockpit, complete with Harrier pilot that I'm using to fill the void. Preparation of fuselage halves Joining front part of fuselage - hope to join the rest tonight. Does this kit need nose ballast?
rdxtnt Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Does this kit need nose ballast? Hope not Haven't seen anyone else mention it though. A good start Tim........... keep up the good work.
theplasticsurgeon Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 Well a bit more work and on goes the wing. As you can see, I took out the spine intake and replaced it with plasticard. Thanks to RDXTNT for reply about the ballast. This living right down to my low expectations about fit, so I'm not going to put a massive amount of effort into it other that assembling and painting it.
theplasticsurgeon Posted December 29, 2007 Author Posted December 29, 2007 And now after installing the nose and treating a lot of seam. Just need to improvise some wing fences, and I could well airbrush the grey before New Year.
rdxtnt Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 She's coming on Tim. I can tell you're starting to enjoy this one The overwing fences are quite easy to adapt from the overwing pylons. They just need filing to the correct profile and need shortening by 1/4" or so.
dahut Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Ive heard alot bad about the Airfix Jag, but I gotta tell you; I've seen worse by the look of it. Try some of the old limited run beasts from Eastern Europe if you want lousy fit issues! Youre doing a brilliant job.
theplasticsurgeon Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 She's coming on Tim. I can tell you're starting to enjoy this one The overwing fences are quite easy to adapt from the overwing pylons. They just need filing to the correct profile and need shortening by 1/4" or so. You've not wrong! I am enjoying it. Modified the overwing fences and stuck them on today. Here she is with the canopy dry fitted.
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 I just wanted to be the first posting of 2008 on the Jaguar GB. HAPPY NEW YEAR! And I've done my first bit of modelling of 2008. Installed that canopy on my Jag. Later this morning we'll see how drunk I was! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 New Years day in the paint facility, with my airbrush. It's now in the drying facility. Grey basecoat is completed.
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 Progress has slowed - but not stopped. Canopy masking has been removed - but will be re-applied more completely before the green is applied. Which won't be this weekend!
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 Camo green applied - this is coming together Probably more progress in the near future.
dahut Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Its looking the 'nads, Mr. Tim. I DO wish there were more 1/48 Jags around... Its looking the 'nads, Mr. Tim. I DO wish there were more 1/48 Jags around...
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 Thanks for all the good comments. A bit more detail work this afternoon and now I can bring it to life with decals!
rdxtnt Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 and now I can bring it to life with decals! Always the best bit!
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 My son was off school ill today - so I gained an extra day for decals . . . . and here's what I did: Some touch-up was necessary, as the decals were off register - with white crescents on the roundels. An equalising coat of Klear over the whole lot - the rest in in the details.
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 Now that all the decals are on, I've painted the tail area and fitted the exhausts. Also fitted the flare boxes.
Hepster Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Luvvly Jag Tim, almost makes me want to build mine. Eventually. The stash currently stands at 78, I bet you would have to add a nought.
markc Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 It's coming along well Tim. Not far to the finish line now!
