bruce3371 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Just received a couple of Dragon kits from a fellow forumite (Spence), and I must say, I think I've finally been weaned off of my Tamiya addiction!! The kits in question are; M2A1 Half-Track 2-in-1 and Sd.Kfz. 7 8t Half-Track - Early Production. I have to say, I'm really impressed by the quailty; the attention to detail in the models is almost anal! I'll be doing WIP threads for the models when I start building them. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in!
Andy K Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Yeah Dragon are good but READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY. Dragon don't seem to proof read them and on more than a few occasions have messed up. They are notorious for this.
Basosz Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 The instructions are also very chaotic. Whenever you attach a part, tick it off from the sheet cause that is the ONLY way to keep track of them. But yeah... their kits are incredibly detailed.
Mike Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I'd agree with all of that. Positioning of parts is a particular issue i've come across... and over engineering for minimum benefit - the final drive on their Pz.IV being an example. Loads of parts that disappear from view once you've built them. Once it's done thought, they're great kits
bruce3371 Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks for the heads up re. the instructions guys, I've already come across one part location issue; the air filter mounting on the M2A1 kit isn't as tight as I'd like, so I've had to guesstimate its correct position on its mounting lug. In an ideal world, we'd have Dragon's level of detail, with Tamiya's easy to follow instructions and ease of construction!!
