Massimo Tessitori
I have an Eduard IL2 weekend kit that I bought ages ago and have never dared to build for fear of having to work out what damn colour to paint it. Sadly after reading this thread I feel none the wiser, other than that the colours on the box are fairly likely to be wrong. Well, it's not so dramatic. There is a fairly good consensus that the colors proposed by Akan on the base of the Nakrasok alboom are reliable, apart for eventual variations due to ageing. Nothing that can forbid to make a model. Perfection doesn't exist, one has to accept this before making any model, not only VVS ones. Hoping to give some consolation, I enclose a drawing from http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il-2.htm If I don't miss, this one is included in the decas sheet. Please note that this plane, as all those built in Z.1 after the summer 1943, has a fingernail shaped cover in front of its tail wheel, I don't remember if this detail is included in the Eduard kit, anyway it is visible on the photos of the plane preserved (and restored with questionable colors) in Prague-Kbely museum.
