dazinio
I keep seeing these descriptions for paint colours on WW2 British tanks but i`ve no idea of any match of either Humbrol or Revell. I`ve spent more time on the Interweb than i have modelling trying to find anything but i`ve come up blank although i have learnt that quite a few people on various sites don`t half use up a lot of words just to say nothing, Anyway some help and basic advice would be appreciated thank you. Test Graham
You could just buy the White Ensign paints for those colours. Otherwise, look at Mike Starmer's information on the MAFVA site. http://www.mafva.net/other%20pages/Starmer%20camo.htm

It was an interesting site but it was all a bit confusing, so i took your advice and bought the White Ensign paints, now all i have to do is sort out which paint goes on which vehicle
Mike Starmer
Thanks for the reply. It was an interesting site but it was all a bit confusing, so i took your advice and bought the White Ensign paints, now all i have to do is sort out which paint goes on which vehicle The Light Mud/Black scheme was used on almost every type of vehicle when repainted in North Africa or Sicilian workshops for ongoing operations in 1943 and '44. But by May 1944 it ceased to applied due to operations taking place in North Italy where the terrain is much greener than down south. In addition A new colour was being applied to British vehicles shortly due to be used in NWE so it was a good time to make the change. First off, this is not and never was a 'desert' scheme. It came into use in April 1943 whilst British forces were operating in Tunisia and there is no desert where 1st Army were operating, 8th Army vehicles were repainted when hostilities had ceased. There are a series of numbered specific designs issued for each type of tank and class of vehicle, it is NOT a random strippy job as many modellers believe. I have copies of the relevant orders, drawings and G.O.693 of 4 June 1943. If you wish more detailed information then e-mail me or google my name.
