P.s. I remember getting the TV21 comic as a kid. Ah, those were the days.

There was also a comic called Countdown that ran from 70 to 72 (renamed to TV Action after a year) that had a lot of TV 21 reprints of Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, stingray and Capt Scarlet. It also had new strips for UFO, Dr Who, The Persuaders, Mission Impossible and other TV favourites. I loved it as a kid and over the last few years I've been collecting them from eBay and they bring back wonderful memories. It was the era of "routine" moon landings and every week would be some sort of article about the space race and lunar missions. There were regular competitions to win the latest Airfix kits too but I never won anything :( now if I could just get an elusive issue #1 I'd have the complete collection!!!

I concur with that, it was a wonderful comic and very much captured the spirit of the age. I kept most of mine including the summer specials - most are a little tatty now. I have No1, sans the wall chart and stickers.

I used to read that too! And TV21. They had some fantastic artwork by people like Ron Embleton and Frank Bellamy. I remember that the pages of Countdown were numbered backwards, to fit the name.

They also had an original strip called 'Countdown' which used spacecraft designs from 2001, about a group of returning space travellers helping to overthrow a dictatorial lunar government. But, as usual, my mum threw them away...

A lot of the TV 21 and Countdown strips have been reprinted in the Century 21 series of book.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u...amp;x=0&y=0

Most of the orginal elements have surprisngly been retained and the quality in most istances is simply stunning, better than when they were originally published - most definatley worth dipping for.

When I bought a house around 35 years ago, I found an old card box left in the shed.

It contained EVERY issue of TV21 from number 1, right through to issue 165. That was when the comic ceased.

Every issue was perfect and folded in half.

Like a BURK I sold them to a shop called Vintage comics, in Charing Cross road. I was paid £1 each - £165 for a box of comics. It was a pretty good deal at the time.

I so much WISH I still had them now!!!

NO WAY would I sell them!

B.T.W.....

I also had a 22" model of Supercar, and a 20" model of FAB 1 not long back.

Both made by EMA (I think)

Supercar was a vac form/resin kit, and FAB 1 was resin/mixed media.

A complete bug-er to build, but they looked amazing when finished.

Both sold on EBay around 5 years ago to fund a money-grabbing witch of an ex-wife.

(Along with my Nikon D90, and a gorgeous 1965 original Burns Marvin signature guitar.... Grrrrrrrrrrr ----- lets not go there any more.......)

Roy.

Yup I've got the lot so far published. I included links to them all on Amazon a couple of pages earier in this thread...

@roymattblack

My Father was chief electrician at the printing works that produced all the Fleetway comics such as Lion, Valiant, Smash, Buster etc AND 2000AD. I had the complete set of 1-50 2000ADs perfect with gifts and multiple copies and even some test bad register prints. My mother decided that all these old comics should go in the bin in the early 80s while I was at University. Even then a mint #1 2000AD with toy was worth a LOT!!! I was VERY VERY angry with the old trout!

Of course the reason it was worth a lot is because everybody's mother threw them out! If everybody had kept their copy, it wouldn't be worth anything as it would be so common.

Quick question about the subject rather than the model.

Is it actually an Interceptor?

Those bits of Captain Scarlet that I can remember (from a loooong time ago), I can only ever remember the Angels firing on ground targets - never anything airborne.

That said I hope to find one of these at Telford, to do a Whif of some description.

They shot down aircraft as well... I seem to remember an episode where they shot something down that was being flown by a mysteron to attack something... wow, what a precise and concise statement that was!

In the opening episode they shot down the Spectrum Helicopter and intercepted Captain Scarlet and the World President in the Spectrum passenger jet. Another episode they held ariel dog fights with Mysteronised Angel Interceptors. There may have been others.

Can't believe that I know this.............
