I’ve seen a few comments about the old boxing having fit issues and people asking if this is a completely new tool, I’m assuming it’s the original tooling with new weapons.

Well, I'm positive "they're" New Belgian Air Force boxing - General Dynamics F-16AM (MLU) "Dark Falcon" is the former 48036 "Tiger Meet" tool of kit release.

the retooled nose section still has a strange shape to some... usually you recognize a Kinetic F-16 very quickly :(

Would you post an explanatory piccy for this statement, Werner, mate, yeh?

I've built the Kinetic 48036 kit and hardly noticed any issues with the shape of the nose.

Yeh, me didn't...

Cheers,

Yeah, I recall reading a post from the owner of Kinetic on a page confirming that 'cleaned up'versions [canopy area?]of existing kits are being released in the Gold boxing line, as the F/A-18 line is now, so this looks to be just a re-box.

Checked the instructions from the 2009 release, and the decal options is the same. Wonder if this is merely a re-release although with a new kit number?

Will be interesting to see when the instructions become available via Scalemates

I'm pretty sure that there are weapons added.

Raymond told me it's completely the same kit, they just ran out of the old boxes and took the opportunity to change the box art. However the description on LM clearly says they also added weapons, surely from SMW's IDF weapons sets.

May be, this is however the instructions from the 2009 boxing;
C:\Users\Mara\Desktop\slozka\navody\f-16\f-16full (scalemates.com)

and this is the likely weapons included - GBU-15 confirmed;
https://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=SW-48001

Personaly I hope they include the Spice as it is more representative of weapons carried by Israeli jets recently

Another thing Arnobiz,

Would you know if this release has the corrected nose shape?

Afaik, only the very first boxing had the uncorrected nose shape.

That of course does not mean the corrected one is correct... :(

That's my recollection of it too - even the supposedly corrected one is quite 'iffy' looking, though for some reason the two-seater kits don't look too bad. Actually I was hoping that Kinetic's announcement today might have been a re-tooled 1/48 F-16 series to the same standard as their F-104s, a decent F-16A/A+/MLU is (well, in my view anyway) badly needed in 1/48. Tamiya obviously isn't going to take their series any further than the F-16C.

Isn't Brakeet a Hasegawa invention and copyright? :D

I thought it was Barak all over...

Stand to be corrected though!

Previous kinetic IDF a/c were made in collaboration with Isradecal (or at least the decorations), so maybe they know their stuff.

Barak means lightning and is the designation of the C model,

Brakeet means thunderbolt and it's the designation for this specific D model.

I hope someone out of the modelling industry confirm that soon!

if you google Brakeet you get mostly model kits....

looking forward to this!

Some say that, some say that Peace Marble II and III C and D aircraft are all called Barak. I don't know, but I found it easy to find consistent translations of "Barak" through various dictionaries. I have never found anything related in regards to "Brakeet". Translating thunderbolt results in "Chaziz". Maybe anyone here who speaks Hebrew and can help?
