jaw
Hi MBers, With the news that F-Resin are producing a 1:144 scale Britannia 300 series kit, albeit in civil markings, does anyone who knows about these things, tell me whether these are the same as the RAF Britannia's (which I think were 253 series?). Does anybody do RAF Britannia decals?? Thanks, John
Dave Fleming
IIRC the 300 series was about 10 feet longer than the RAF's 252/3s - the only series 300 in RAF colours is the one at Cosford, although the AAEE operated XX367, a series 312F http://www.abpic.co.uk/search.php?q=XX367&u=reg It's generally easier to shorten a fuselage than lengthen it, so that might be an answer - I wonder if details are in the Crowood book, which I have - or maybe Welsh models could market their vac fuselage as a conversion set. The RAF Britannias were the same length as the civilian 300 series. It was the original 100 series Britannia that had the shorter fuselage. See http://bristol-britannia.com/brittypes.htm Sounds like I have been the victim of a Meteoresque misunderstanding of Britannia lengths (i.e. the Series 2300 was 10 feet longer than the 200)! Thanks for the correction. The F-RSIN kit sounds even more appealing!
