Paul A H
Republic P-47D “Gabreski’s Razorbacks” decals 1:72 LPS Hobby LPS Hobby’s next decal set designed for the Tamiya 1:72 Thunderbolt kit is entitled “Gabreski’s Razorbacks” after the celebrated and successful American fighter ace Francis ‘Gabby’ Gabreski. As with the other LPS Hobby sheets released so far, three options are included. Unsurprisingly all three aircraft depicted have the ‘razorback’ canopy configuration rather than the bubbletop: • P-47D-5-RE s/n 42-8458, 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, Halesworth, England, November 1943. This aircraft is finished in Olive Drab and Neutral Gray; • P-47D-11-RE s/n 42-75510, 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, Halesworth, England, December 1943, also finished in Olive Drab and Neutral Gray; and • P-47D-22-RE s/n 42-26044, 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, Boxted, England, May 1944 in overall natural metal. As with other LPS Hobby decals sets, full colour instructions are provided which include excellent line drawings showing the placement of the very nice stencils provided. The decals themselves look to be thin and glossy so hopefully they will settle down nicely when used. Conclusion This is another nice little decal set from LPS Hobby. If P-47s are your thing and 1:72 is your scale, you should consider picking up some of these sets. Review sample courtesy of
