SaintsPhil
I'm getting towards painting an EF111 I bought as a bit of an impulse! I know very little about these aircraft so I was happy to build OOB (for once). Can any one tell me what colour the airbrake is on the inside? The instructions say White but all the pics I've seen are red however these have all been of F111 not the EF. Also are the edges of the bay doors red? Thanks Phil
Giorgio N
Airbrake is red inside, as are the areas made visible by the slats, flaps and surfaces at the wing root. The front gear bays have no edges for sure, I'm not sure of the main gear bays though (can't see them in the pics I have)
SaintsPhil
Thanks! It's the italeri kit so flaps and slats all retracted! Phil
mungo1974
The airbrake/main gear door is red as said earlier, normally with two black patches where the main wheels rest. No F-111's except for possibly Navy F-111B's had red door edges.
phantomfixer
The areas that are painted red on the EF have all been pointed out. There are no red areas in the lower electronic bay or under the "canoe" area (antenna fairing). I think that the spoilers and the rotating wing glove have been mentioned, but just in case. And as Mungo1974 pointed out the main gear door/speedbrake has at least 2 large black patches. I dont know how detailed or the scale but they are anti slip (rough) and are a step area, just little aft of the were the wheels rest . The red areas are the same for the EF as for any other US F-
