I'm planning to buy a 35th Humber armoured car (Sovereign or Bronco, dependent on version) but I'd like to do one serving in Italy, preferably in the mid stone and black (or dark grey) camo scheme, ie similar to the Staghound scheme in italy.

So far the only info I can find is that MkIIIs were in Italy but I've found no mention of MkIIs or Mk IVs, I'm guesing that MkIVs were too late entering service.

Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

TIA

Hi Neil,

there is a photo of one in Palestine in 1944 (below). I do not know if they still had this colours scheme when they moved to Italy.

Great stuff Mark, ta muchly. This is enough to prove that MkIVs did get down to that area and were in a desert camo scheme.

It means I can get the cheaper (but not by much!) Bronco kit.

A pedantic point but Light Mud/Black were not desert colours, they were the general Middle East colours. In addition many vehicles from the UK that were in Italy retained their UK colours of SCC 2 brown with or without SCC1A dark brown or Black disruptive painting to MTP 46/4A standard 'aka Mickey Mouse'. It may be the case with Mk.IV in Italy that they were simply overall SCC 2 brown.

Hello Neil,

You should look toward Bison decals, there are a few decals sheets about what you're looking for.

I might have missed something, so check the whole site.

Thanks for the links Antoine. Alas, the wrong mark of Humber. Mind you, I keep seeing that Staghound in that desert style camo. Tempting, very tempting ... :hmmm:

And Mike, thanks, point noted about the colours, I'll look into it re: SCC 2.

Sorry Neil,

I thought you were not decided yet about the mark.

I can see what you mean. In my mind I wanted the Humber III or IV but I forgot to mention specifically that version in the post. And of course it doesn't help that Bronco do the 'other' Humber as well, the version you were on about. :)
