MARS Pod

I'm building the Harrier GR5 for the GB, in the pegasus engine test bed scheme, and the decal instructions mention a MARS pod on the centre line. There's no more info other than a very rough sketch, does anyone have any info about this? Even what MARS stands for would help as a google search just brings up some very tasty looking chocolates!

I believe it stands for Modular Airborne Recording System and was basically a pair of modified Aden pods. If you search Air Britain Photo website or Airliners.net for serials ZD318, ZD319 and ZD320 you should find some pics of these pods inplace on at least one of these airframes.

If you have the Airforces Monthly Op Herrick Harriers supplement of a few years ago, there's a pic of ZD320 with said installation.

Edit:

Here are a few links to pics,

Hope those give you some pointers in the right direction!

Oops, crossed wires! Re-read the post, and then checked the instructions myself and realised I was barking up the wrong tree! Although the modified Aden pods housed a later recording system, I'm afraid I can't point you towards any known pics of the MARS pod referred to in the instructions.

Sorry,

Mark.
