SaintsPhil
I have a quick question, I'm not sure if anyone out there is will know the answer but I know sone of our American cousins frequent the forums! Simple one: does the canopy on the EF111 Raven have a dark tint? All the photos I've seen seem to show it has but I'd just like to double check! Peter O
Hi Phil, I worked on FB-111A's back in the late 1970s. The canopy was not tinted. However, the windscreens had electric de-icing. The conductive layer of the windscreen made the canopy look slightly greenish-gold tinted if the light was right. It looked the same as cars that have electrically heated windshields. On my Trump FB-111 I'm going to leave them clear. HTH! Peter
SaintsPhil
Thanks gents, Those pics help, the canopy looks very dark here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...-111A_Raven.jpg But then it is from Wiki!! They do look to have a slight gold tint to them, which I guess is the de-ice, like Tornado front screens I guess! I think for simplicity I'll go with clear too! Thanks Phil
Jennings Heilig
the canopy looks very dark here: That's because you're looking into the cockpit. The canopy is clear on all 111's.
SaintsPhil
I assumed that was the case, but it looked particularly dark, maybe the contrast with the light background....
