Braathens SAFE was founded in 1946 by a Norwegian shipping company, with its headquarters in Oslo Norway. Braathens dropped the SAFE (South America and Far Eastern) name in 1997 when the company started concentrating on domestic services.

Braathens was brought by SAS in 2002, and in 2004 Braathens was merged into SAS and the Braathens livery disappeared from the skies.

Braathens SAFE operated a pair of Boeing 737-200 airliners in hybrid colours, the first was LN-SUZ, and this airliner was leased to the Brazilian airline VASP in 1991, when the lease ended LN-SUZ returned to Braathens and was returned to service with Braathens titles, but it retained the VASP cheat line for a time. The second 737 was leased by Braathens in September 1985from TACA, an airline from El Salvador it retained the registration YS-08-C. This 737 retained its basic TACA livery, and was given the Braathens SAFE titles and a Norwegian flag logo on the tail. YS-08-C returned to TACA in may 1986.

This decal sheet will allow you to build one of these aircraft in the hybrid livery using either the recently re-issued Airfix kit or the Authentic Airliners resin kit.

These decals are very well done; the colours are crisp, sharp and very comprehensive. All stencils are present on the sheet. There are different windshield decals for the Airfix and Authentic kits to ensure a good fit on your model.

The instructions are colour diagrams and photos set over 3 double sided A4 sheets. There is some history on the aircraft and the liveries as well as some very good instructions on the use of the decals.

Conclusion

A nice decal set that will allow you to build a different hybrid livery form Braathens SAFE. The sheet is very high quality and comprehensive, with very clear instructions.

I wish we could get more sheets for one-off liveried airliners.
