Dave Fleming
http://www.revell.de/?id=203&KOKANR=01...p;sp=1&nn=1 Details from the website: No. of parts 60 Model-details: - Textured Surfaces - Cockpit with Instrument Panel - Detailed Undercarriage - Separate Landing Light - Optional Wing Fuel Tanks - Decal Set for the unique French Air Force livery So, which mould is it? Fujimi? Ex-Heller? Matchbox? I know Revell has re-packaged both the Fujimi and Matchbox ones in the past, 60 parts seems a lot for the Matchbox kit Edited August 25, 2011 by Dave Fleming
Giorgio N
Not the matchbox one, as that didn't really represent a true Alpha Jet. The picture on that page does not look like a fujimi kit either, I compared it with my model built from that kit and there are several differences. Maybe ex Heller ? Wold be good if it were a new tool kit though !
chris57
Just done the airfix one in togolese markings and that doesn't have a separate landing light, also has 65 parts. chris Edited August 25, 2011 by chris57
thx6667
I'm guessing its the Lodella moulding of the ex-Heller kit which Revell boxed back in the early 90s (along with the Vampire and Ar 196 which Lodella also had/have in their inventory). That is has "made in Mexico" stamped on the sprues suggests the Lodella have the moulds, which may also explain why Heller then had to rebox the Airfix kit. There's a whole book to written about all that!

thx6667
I'd forgotten Revell also reboxed the Heller Harvard! And Humbrol had to source that from Lodella, so the moulds clearly were shipped to Mexico.
Dave Fleming
Thread drift, but it's my thread! Encore released a few of them as well - so what do we reckon they sold (Not counting ones they may have sold to Smer)? Alpha Jet, Vampire, T-6G/Harvard, Gladiator, Arado 96, Arado
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Revell have this year re-boxed the old Heller 1/100 Apollo Lunar Module and Command/Service Module kits, so they may have signed a new leasing agreement with the mould owners or something, meaning the Alpha Jet could well turn out to be the Heller one. I suspect you could be right: IIRC this moulding only had one set of pylons and tanks, while the Fujimi and Airfix had 4 pylons and bombs. Nice kit though. Giorgio N
Not too bad if it's the Heller mould, as I recall this being quite good. Still, a new mould Alpha Jet would have been welcome, more so as Revell did a decent 1/144 kit a few years ago. I'm surprised that they never did a new 1/72 one, considering the plane has served in the Luftwaffe for many years.
Dave Fleming
The main issue with the Heller kit is that the wing leading edge 'dogs teeth' are in the wrong place - don't know if they were amended during development
