Drill!

Hi!

To prepare a future wingnut build (I hope to start it early in 2012), I wanted to try some technique more or less specific to WW1 subjects, with a nice 1/48 kit, eduard's Pfalz D.III.

I'll let aside the authenticity, to spend more time on the techniques themselves, trying to present it in a didactic way

Inside, no PE, no resin, no nothing! Only plastic, and it'll be fine with me.

I've quickly assembled the pit, sprayed a coat of a yellow tamiya as a primer, and then it's time to get the wood effect, with the following materials: Some rembrandt colours close to wood, an wide hard brush, and a piece of cardboard to serve as a palette.

Then I mix all colours on the cardboard, and give it some time to absorb some oil.

I then brush the mixture. The brush is often wiped up on the cardboard. With less quantity of paint, it'll dry faster. The hard brush give you the opportunity to "work" the wood aspect.

Waiting for the pit to dry, I prepare the wiring.

It seems this technique is more adapted to 1/32, but you never know..

Here are the tools and materials:

- fishing line (Very thin)

- Electric wire (Very thin)

- Coton bud

- Tooth pick

- CA glue

- Tweezers

- Cutting pliers

- Lighter

- Candle

Time to stretch.

Same procedure as a streched sprue, but this time with the coton bud.

- Cut the stretched coton bud in small parts, 2 to 3 mm long.

- Cut about 10cm of fishing line.

- Make the fishing line pass through the coton bud, next in the buckle, and back in the coton bud.

- A drop of CA, and everything is fixed.

And to have an idea about the size (Sorry, I had no english coins!).
