richellis
Courtline Pink Lockheed L1011 Tristar decal 1:144 decals from Two Six. Courtline can trace its roots back to in 1957, as Argus Air Transport. The Courtline name first appeared on 1st January 1970 with the arrival of the first jet airliner the BAC 1-11, Courtline specialised in holiday charter work, Courtline worked closely with Clarkson’s Holidays at Luton and helped to start the concept of package holidays. Courtline is probably best known to us for its highly colourful airliners, including the Pink Lockheed L1011 Tristar that this sheet will allow you to build. The Lockheed L-1011 Tristar is a wide body airliner that was designed to meet a specification for an airliner that was smaller than the 747, but with a long range. The Tristar has three Rolls Royce engines, one under each wing and the third at the base of the tail. The Tristar gained a reputation for being a reliable and quiet airliner. Courtline had a pair of Tristars in its fleet, delivered in 1973 they where uniquely specified for Courtline with wider doors for faster loading and unloading, and integral air stairs and baggage conveyers. The Tristars allowed Courtline to expand into the US and Caribbean. Courtline and Clarkson’s closed in 1974 leaving the skies a duller place. The screen printed decal comes over 2 sheets, and will allow you to make G-BAAB “Halcyon Breeze”. The colours are very good, bright and sharp, with the centre pink cheat line is done over 3 parts per side and has the white stripe top and bottom printed on. The silver Court name and tail logo are a nice and with a matt silver that looks very nice. All windows and doors are included on the sheet along with some of the ducts and grills missing off the Airfix kit The instructions are colour drawings, with all decals numbered so easy to use and follow. Conclusion Another very nice sheet from Two Six, a very bright model with its pink paint work that will stick out in the display case! Look out this decal sheet is about to be stuck to an Airfix kit very soon! Review sample courtesy of
richellis
An update, I am doing a build using these decals on a modified Airfix Tristar, a full build thread can be found here I have made a start on putting the decals on, firstly they are going on well, I am having a few slight issues with the large stripes, they will not move on the model, even with lashings of water, a few splits but careful setting has rendered these invisable. the tail decal has gone on well, I used lots of micro-set and sol to get them settled BUT I have done alot of reshaping on the airfix kit and there are alot more curves and shapes for the decal to settle around. The metalic on the CourtLine name are very shiney and look great under some gloss. Now a piccy!
