Tango 1
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give all the BSG fans out there a heads up that the new 1/32 Moebius Viper Mk.VII has been released in the USA. I've ordered two from Starship Modeller and it came to £44.90 including first class shipping! Not bad when you consider that these kits will range between £25.00 (Forbidden Planet) and an outrageous £70.00 (Wonderland Models.) each over here................... Get them while you can!! Pilgrim_UK
Wonderland models surely must be a typo? I emailed them and asked about it. That a good price if you don't get caught by customs. I cant commend Moebius enough for these kits that normally only garage kit produce and cost an absolute fortune for a 1/3 of the scale. Update: Wonderland models have confirmed it was a typo and changed the price accordingly. They also say they wont get it until late September or October. Smiffy
Already ordered a pair last week from SSM. BTW, in my experience, parcels from Starship Modeler don't get stopped (even a $350. AT-AT). John and Linda are very... considerate.
Smiffy
My two have arrived and I can confirm that they were not intercepted by Parcel Farce.
Tango 1
Excellent! So what do you think of the new kit?
Smiffy
Excellent! So what do you think of the new kit? Looks pretty good. Detail wise, I think it's about on par with the Mk.II, although obviously with a lot more panel lines, as per the digital filming models. I like the option of male or female torso for the pilot figure. When you join the upper and lower fuselage halves together, it looks like the join on the underside is going to need some work. Maybe that could of been designed better, but not really a big issue. Ohh and they've remembered to do the reaction control thrusters on this one. I might just give them a couple of twists with a drill bit, just to give them a little more depth. I didn't bother with the PE sets for mine yet. I may order one in the future. Tango 1
Thanks for your thoughts on the kit Smiffy, I have not bothered to order the PE for this one either as I think from what I have seen of the kit, its not needed. I am looking forward to getting mine in the post as I fancy getting stuck into one when my current builds are completed. That's great news about having the female figure option too as I want to build Starbuck's Mk.II! BTW, can you pose the canopy open on the Mk.VII? Smiffy
Pics, as requested. Here's that underside seam I mentioned. Seems to fit better on one side than t'other. Some fettling should fix it, but there'll still be some filler needed (right across those panel lines). Decal sheet gives a nice assortment of pilot choices as well as Galactica and Pegasus logos. A large amount of Cylon kill markings, too. A one piece canopy and two part clear stand complete the package. The instructions make no mention of an open canopy, but it shouldn't really be too difficult to do, if so desired.
Tango 1
Thanks for the pics! Nice to see the kit OOB. I like the fact they have included markings for Pegasus as well, shame there's no nameplate for Showboat-I'll have to see if the AM folks print a sheet with her name on. Smiffy
I'm thinking my first one will be Starbucks battle damaged ship. Then when the Raider is released, I'll do Scar, chasing hot on her heels. Really hoping they do a Raptor. Be cool if they include the rockets and gun pods, too.
Tango 1
I was think of something similar myself, have been trying to figure out a dio with Starbuck/Scar flying between asteroids...........would look pretty cool if one got it right! I have read on SSM that Moebius are just waiting on production to begin on the Raider. I have not seen any mention of the Raptor yet, but I also hope they do one as it would be a great on a hangar dio!
Tango 1
My Viper VII's arrived today!! Very nice kit, I wish there was a little more detail in the cockpit though, I will see what I can use from the spares box to spruce things up a bit. Pilgrim_UK
I got 2 vipers as well today and Tango has hit it on the head these ARE the cheapest vipers around. Top stuff. Smiffy those pics look so good they should be put on the review forums.
picard
Hi folks, After placing an order from Cultman TV, my two vipers with photoetch have arrived! Brilliant news? According to my ramson note from bloody Parcel Force Customs? Bummer? Another twenty quid?? Anyway, apologies for the soapbox, has anyone started their build yet? looks like a great kit and should be easier to light over the MK2? I had a great email dialogue with Mobius back in the spring to try to aquire a new MK2 canopy, great to deal with, and asked about any Raptor plans, I received a resounding no, unfortuneatlly. Anyway, off to see a seedy man in a car park near LHR with a brief case, to recover my kids.

picard
Hi Smiffy, This is the first time this has ever happened to me actually, after a few years with dealing with both companies? Thinking back though, mainly small detail stuff from Cultman, and big boxes from SSM? So, wise words my friend. Thanks for the heads up for next time. Cheers
