Radpoe Spitfire
Ok it may be a daft question to some, but I'm only just venturing into WW1 builds & am currently working on the Eduard F2 w/end edition. The problem I have is the upper surfaces are Khaki!- the colour of Humbrol Khaki is more akin to a dark teak or "Brasso" whereas, most British WW1 aircraft I've seen seem to be a Dark Green or Chocolate (service Brown). can anyone help please. Many thanks Rad.

I am by no means an expert and I do not know the colour scheme of the aircraft you are modelling , but my favorite for the "RFC Green" is Xtracolour X22 . 487 Squadron
I'm no expert either, but I think some were painted with PC10 dope which was various shades of green dependant upon how it was mixed, and some were PC12, which was a brownish khaki colour. Dave Fleming
WW1 colour descriptions are always a bit 'iffy' and depend on who does the describing - take a look at pics of the RAF Museum aircraft, they should give you an idea of the correct shade for your F2B - PC10 is a dark greenish brown not unlike Olive drab (Indeed one scholl of thought is uS Olive Drab was descended from PC10) Humbrol 108 was by far the best out of the bottle eqauivalent, but they discontinued it years ago. fredsopwith
I have been using Xtracolour X22 for PC10, but now want to switch to an acrylic equivalent. Can anyone recommend one ?
487 Squadron
I've used Tamiya XF-74 Olive Drab (JDSDF) on this camel:
Mikey58
I built a Revell Camel sometime ago and they suggested a mix of olive drab and chocolate brown something like a 70/30 mix,so you're right with your green/brown idea. Mike
Radpoe Spitfire
Thank you all for your replies, I've now had chance to look at the kit instructions which state "Khaki PC10" so Olive drab is going to be.
