Any further word on that price? £100 is totally unreasonable.

Hopefully the quoted price is a mistake. If you consider that the Revell Lancaster still retails for less than £20 then £100 for an aircraft a little larger is just ridiculous. However, if £100 is a mistake I'm not expecting the correct price to be anywhere near as low as Revell kits. Italeri's current marketing strategy is to offer a little bit more with their kits and charge a premium price. So with the new 1/48 Hurricane we get lots of internal detail and a little booklet. With the re-released Spitfire Mk IX we get a large decal sheet. Personally, I would prefer the option of buying a stripped down kit for a lower price, but so far only Eduard do this.

Italeri's prices have gone through the roof lately - my eyes nearly bled when I saw the retail price for the recently re-released Piasecki H-21, I don't understand how a kit that originally retailed for a very reasonable £9.99 when first released now retails for £24.99! I could understand £14.99 with the passing of the years but that price is more than just eye-wateringly unjustified!

I would baulk at paying £35 for a 1/72nd Sunderland considering the detail offered with Revell's recent and forthcoming WW.II bombers! I'd also prefer a Mk.V or a Mk.III to a Mk.I but that's just personal preference. Let's hope it comes in at a fair price when it is released.

I'd considered getting the Sunderland myself, however at that price it's never going to happen. I'm sure it's a lovely kit and well detailed, but not £100 nice; I'll stick to the Airfix kit.

I have been checking the prices of some German online-shops and they list the (not yet available) Sunderland currently at around 35-40 Euro.

There are still no delivery dates or confirmed price on the UK importers trade site yet ...

The confusion over the price (£100.00) comes from the fact that on their site if there is no known RRP the price is automatically listed as £100...wether it is a pot of paint or a 1/1 aircraft carrier !!!...so this will probably crop up again in the future ....

I've seen it advertised at £35 which considering it does come with Photo Etch parts and booklet doesn't seem to bad to me. Kits seem to be getting expensive these days, price of plastic (through oil) is rising, and generally they are getting more sophisticated.

I'm very happy as I'm dreadful at re-scribing and it's one of my favourite aircraft.

Pleased to see the prices, should mean they'll only be Ooooh.... about NZ$120.00 I'd think, by the time the importer adds his 50%. At least now Italeri has conceded that Bathhurst is in the Gambia rather than NSW, Australia in this case as thier riginal product info showed.

Steve.
