Dug out a bit of an odd one to as a new project..1/72 Novo Percival Proctor.

I have not got the patience to do anymore RAF camo so have decided to make a beautiful Percival Vega Gull with a shiny cowl and colourful civil finish.

But..what changes are there between the Proctor and Vega Gull? please does anyone know?

Sadly , I suspect that there's rather a lot of difference . Whilst the Proctor was developed from the Vega Gull , the old Frog/Novo kit is a Proctor IV , which was larger that the earlier marks . Wikipedia suggests a fuselage some 3 feet longer for a start , so you'd need some drastic surgery to shorten the kit fuselage . One the other hand , you could just say sod it & put the civil finish on the standard kit , since most people won't know the difference anyway .

Following on from my previous reply , I've just realised that the Proctor V , a post-war civil variant , was based on the IV . There were 150 built & there are a considerable number of photos on Airliners.net - just put Proctor in the keyword section of the photo search function .

If you do try to make a Vega Gull out of the Proctor IV kit - and I agree with rs2man that it would be a lot easier to try to fine a post-war civvie Proctor V colour scheme that you fancy - you will also have to bear in mind that the Proctor has a much higher roofline and completely different greenhouse. The Proctor windscreen is rounded rather than faceted, and the whole thing looks different.

Thanks guys, those photos clear up the fact that a major change will be needed for a Vega Gull (pity) so a civil proctor looks a better option.

this scheme looks good: http://www.airteamimages.com/107770.html (a blue scheme with a silver cowl would be even better!

G-AGTC (what colour would this have been) b+w photo link: http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/percival_proctor.php

G-AMTJ silver or white? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Percival...hester_1953.jpg

Sorry, I can't assign colours to mono pics with any certainty, but it would be typical of both the type and the period for 'TJ to be silver. the central cheat line flowing back from the spinner is a typical ex-works Proctor scheme: I have seen such stripes in dark blue and red.

AGTC had a markedly different colour scheme in its life before being written off in 1969.
