AnonymousDFB1
Hi all, This is the first model I have built in twenty :cough: years. I'm a bit rusty and failing eyesight and a shaky hand hasn't helped. It's hand painted and is a bit of a rescue job as the paintwork is I've learnt a lot, like next time I will airbrush! The following pics show up just how bad my eyesight has got (the last model I built I didn't wear glasses)! Still given how long it has been and how bad the paintwork started out I reasonable pleased with the outcome. Comments please oh and be gentle ! bexwh773
Hey Sis, considering the fact youre positively ancient, ya eyesight is shot, right now Im sat next to a pretty good F16 thingymajiggydoodah. So, well done Old Girl. Bex

Angels49
Mish doing that under those conditions, imagine what you'll do under better circumstances. Sweeeet l'il kit luv. Now I'm jealous I really like the markings and paint scheme . I'll speak with Ed and see if I can get you time out of the SJ. Just do me a favor, keep on plugging, your limits are only what you make'em. Not bad for a BIIIIIIG Yellow Bird , and a real neat lady to boot. hatchet
That's not half-bad Mish! -and a damn sight better than not finishing anything at all Paintjob looks fine, but I think you need to work a little on your decalling. Were they applied to a gloss surface? Maybe you got some feathers caught under them

Thanks Clif, as I mentioned I have learnt a lot from building this one. One of the things is just how much the standard of modelling has gone up since I was building kits. Airbrushing is a must nowadays, where 25 - 30 years ago it was a dark art practised by a few. Thanks for the comments next up is a A10 Hog, only got decals for AFRES I would really like to do it in European lizard colours in RAF Woodbridge markings. but maybe I'm being too ambitious. Maybe you got some feathers caught under them Hi Martin, Problem with the decalling was there being too many coats of paint under them, some were on silky mat paint and when I photographed it it was still a bit damp with the decal fixing solution stuff. Thanks for the comments.

Paul @ Parkes682Decals
Wierd Bloke... Hi Mish Yes our eyesight does get worse as we get older, mine included im 50 next month and just started wearing glasses (1.25) for modelling. But on the serious side you will get a far better finish with an airbrush some advice put very thin coats on and dont rush it put a coat of paint on and let it dry.You will get the standard up very quick indeed and use Maskol its really good for masking, and try trim film for round the cockpit canopys.Trim Film is a decal you cut out you can get a razor sharp edge around canopy's.You can even airbrush the clear version to the required colour and put that on.You get it from Hannants Code no MSTF-0 But they do range of colours if you get stuck give me an email Best Regards Paul

I have only got a cheap airbrush and compressor, but I'm gonna give it a go. I've done a bit of reading on here and theres some good movies on the 'tube'. I also have some glasses for close work but my sis keeps taking the p**s out the geriatric big bird. Edited December 3, 2007 by Mish
