What a fantastic collection you have Rob, brings back great memories. I spent my RAF career at Waddington in the early 70's. I arrived in March 71 straight from Halton, just after XM610 went in. In fact, I have an old Airfix Vulcan (09002) in my stash and I intend to build it as XM610 as a tribute to Flt. Lt. Alcock and his crew - it will be in the same camo as shown on your XH557. Robert was a really nice person who was blighted again when he lost his ac and all the rear crew and crew chiefs over Malta in 1975.

Anyway, your collection is great and don't forget that no-one is capable of producing a perfect representation of anything as complex as an aircraft in model form - there always be something not quite right. As long as it looks like what it's supposed to represent and you're happy with the finish then I think that's what really matters...besides, just imagine how awesome your collection would look if displayed all together!

Keep up the good work, its an inspiration to us all!

Wow - I have one built (Lindberg converted to a B1). I can't imagine where I would put so many large planes. Great work there, Rob. Are you saving up your pennies for an Aeroclub 1/48 one?

Hi all wow what kicked this off again since 2011. Sorry for the late reply.

I have been very busy post spitfire build and hardly done any modelling as I am catching up on the other of many commitments in life.

I am getting the itch to start again now but will admit I had had enough after the spit build doing it all day and night everyday for a month was knackering.

I will have to answer your questions properly when I get some time soon an this needs updating as a great many more vulcans have been built since though mostly the smaller ones.

I just love vulcans none of these are perfect and I look back at them now including my first photoshops and can see were I would do it differently now.

Wheels are up because 1, I like the flying look, 2 most of these were weekend builds while I looked after my grandad they were mostly built at his house 100 miles away and decided to make them less fragile by having wheels up so they are more like a hybrid toy/model which is cool.

They give my grandad pleasure and sadly he died on the 8th December 2012 at 8:45pm aged 86.

He was there when I saw the second to last flight with the RAF of 558 at wroughton when watching the vulcan fly was a "scary" event rather than the tame way she is now.

I hope I will return to the bench soon I have some models to finish and alot more to start.

Currently I trying to get my music career back on form

After my illness last year which saw me spending more time on models than ever and you guys made life more fun and Its great to feel part of something bigger.

As for storage they all Reside over shelves and there is not really much more room. Perhaps it's time to gift some I dunno.

I would love to try and photo them all together I can have ago.

I have been working hard on my YouTube channel too were I do vlogs and transformers reviews. And reviews videos of other stuff.

I need to do a video on the lights and sound vulcan again now I have a better camera and I would like to develop my idea further soon with a better lights and sound vulcan.

Since these vulcans there are another about 25 vulcans I have made mainly dragons and pit roads. (Proper nuts ain't it)

I appreciate the unique charachter of them all the differences the mks etc.

An seek to model them.

As for K2s just not got around to it yet and they are my least favoured variant. The box fairing whilst interesting does ruin the overall design style. I still have stalled from last year the silver B1s to make and XL426.

Thanks for all the nice comments its nice to know they are appreciated 3 years on.

Thanks all Cheers Rob ;)

Sorry for the late reply guys, I just stumbled across this whilst having a nostalgic look back through my old builds and posts since joining BM half a decade ago,,, Seems 5 Years is a long time when you put it like that and I guess it is, It has flown by. I am starting to feel old now and its interesting looking back at these and thinking how I would have done things differently now. From all I have learned being on here, Some I have gone back and improved since.

XH562 for example taught me never to use copydex as a paint mask for it rips paint discolours it and gives ragged edges. I can also see how I used to not bother with filler etc. Then most of these were weekend builds with just fun being the motivator,

Thanks for all the kind words. Scary thing its how many more I have build since these days. Man.... Worst is there are still many more I am building and wanting too. Crazy but happy lol.

I think soon most of these will be packed away into boxes and stored carefully. I need to make space for new ones. Especially if a new 1/72 ever happens. I hear rumours of a Trumpeter B1 but I doubt its true.

Cheers Rob ;)

Wow, that is a great collection Rob. I must have come in about 2/3rd of the way through your builds because there are quite a few here that I have not seen before. It's good to see the different marks together as well.

I wonder what the collective noun is for a group of Vulcans?

I have made a ridiculous amount mate, I have been going through some bad times the last 5 years and the modelling kept me on a level hence how many... There are many more build since that are not on here, and there are many posts I made that are not tagged from the old site so it stands a chance there are a few more you may not have seen. It will be fun to try and Photograph them all in one go but I can't see how I could do that. So far made there are.

Made =

Airfix = 17

Pit Road /GWH = 5

FROG = 1

Dragon = 16

Wiking = 1

Lindberg = 3

Rareplanes = 1

Works in progress =

Airfix = 1

PR = 1

Dragon = 1

FROG = 2

Welsh models = 1

Now were is that straight jacket I clearly need it.... Then there is the stash which has things other than Vulcans and also the shelf of doom which also has things other than Vulcans....

Cheers Rob ;)

Rob these are amazing! I do like the white version with full colour roundels (not faded). In fact I like your vulcans so much I'm going to jolly well buy one tomorrow and it's all your fault!

Cheers they have all been fun and taught me much on the way. They could all be improved too but they served their purpose at the time, Making me and my Grandad happy, Still do. Cheers ;)

Good on you for buying one. Go for it I look forward to the WIP :)

What a fantastic collection! Thanks for sharing.

Cheers, Its an old post that was kicked off again recently, I don't mind. I used to worry about commenting on someones thread when it had been sat there for years but I don't see how it makes any difference, Just worried its against the rules.

Cheers Rob

Ah the holy grail of BM RFI - Rob's Vulcans all in one place. Complete the task Robvulcan - let's see the rest. Don't make me PM F-32.

Nimrod, I think the word for a group of Vulcans is a 'loud', or is it a 'noisy'?
