Using large decals

Paul

Recommended Posts

For the second time I have destroyed a large decal when I managed to fold it under itself

Both were using high quality aftermarket decals and so both incidents were expensive and annoying.

How can I avoid this? I thought of cutting large decals into pieces and reassembling them on the model, would this help?

Any comments would be appreciated

You've answered your own question.

Break down the decal into manageable sections then apply is sequence. Proper planning and patience will give you great results. If you take your time you will not notice the breaks on the finished model.

Hope this helps

i'd just like to add to this paul, that when you have gotten the decal down on the model, dried and so on sometimes

gaps are inevitable. a very fine brush and a good selection of enamels will help to fill these in and with practise a close

enough match can be obtained.

Thanks for that, I supose a gap that can be filled is less visible than a slight overlap.

Thanks again, I'll report back

I just saw this.

How are they folding on themselves? are you removing them from the backing.

With larger decals its best to wait till they start to move on the backing then slide them onto the model.

This normally works for me.
