Dereknf Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Here's a selection from the few photos I took today. Conditions weren't great and well done to those for putting on what show they could. Not great but here they are anyway.
robvulcan Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 i went, i really enjoyed it, im very gratefull to those guys who did fly, however i must say with deep regret it was the worst airshow i have ever been too, but i will still go again the weather was awful and no ones fault, i dont know weather the regulations have changed for airshows, i had a big gap in going, until 2008, i had not been to any since riat 93, and the mere sugesstion that the tornado may not fly due to the weather i found insulting to our airforce pilots and this awsome machine that can as i understand fly faw, if its true that a bit of rain dont agree with tornados it dont put much faith in the defence system of the country to those who arnt so in the know about planes, i was glad it did show up, the tornado just about made me feel i haden waised my money, and money on fuel, i bet there have been no problems for any airliners flying today. and very nice photographs there, i really like the planes that i found look shockingly like spitfires.
jasman71 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 yeah it was a pig of a day. I took all my cameras and lenses and in the end only used the one with a single lens, only changing for a wide angle when I went in the Warplanes hangar. Didn't shoot much, only the Tornados and the Haawkk which eventually showed up and did a few flypasts. I didn't bother with anything else I'm afraid, but I must say the Tornado was impressive as always and once again XX307 was displaying (it was the 2009 display aircraft) I can't fault any of the organisation from today, the weather was awful and so many machines couldn't do anything, but nearly 38,000 punters came out and braved it all.
robvulcan Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 yea was good to see turn out, however i have to be honest i thought it was the quietest airshow ive ever been too, rammed last year and year before, couldnt move. i guess people stayed in their cars. i didnt, got soaked and im still shivering now, can not get warm,. the tornado is always awsome. i didnt hear to clearly but on the radio is it right what me and a few people thought they said that the red arrows are to be cut soon
robvulcan Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 i really like the afterburner shots, i did take time to have a quick look around the cold war hangar, i had not been to cosford since a child in the 90s, and i can remember the trident (hope thats still there and vc10,) and also remember the vulcan victor and javeling rotting outside, i walked in to the new building and i was over come with emotion and had to try had to stop the old tears, it made me so proud to see out heritage of that era being looked after, just could not get over the vulcan victor valiant, being displayed as they are, the lightning hanging up and the javelin, the caberra meteor, etc etc, what a sight and what a site. amazing, ill be going back soon and often to get some picks, and it was soo good to see they repainted them, the valiant i was particularly pleased to see i love valiants and have never seen one in fact i always thought there was none left at all, can anyone tell me what the plane is that looks like a hercules in there says centaur on the side of it i cant remember what it is but i love that plane.; cheers rob and well done anyone who braved it today i hope its better for kemble next week end and i hope its good for 655 at wellesbourne anyone going to these.

WindyWAFU Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Not a bad show, I was busy working as part of the Black Cat display team, doing the the usual PR thing selling caps and fixed aircraft. Still recovering now from the after show party

WindyWAFU Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I enjoyed it. Shame it was cut short though. So, any ideas where I can get Black Cats nose decals in 1/72? And shame you guys aren't at RIAT this year. We are not at RIAT this year because they only asked us to be a statci display, which isn't our style. Believe the decals for black cats scheme was available with the hobby boss kits but I reckon that when the 1/48 th Lynx comes out from airfix there maybe a re run from the aviation workshop of this scheme. Just for info our aircraft for thr shows this year will all be Lynx Mk 8 SRU with 2 aircraft painted in black cat colour schemes XZ722 645 and XZ692 641 which is slightly different on the face. We also have to MK 3 ice painted aircraft and for a special scheme an Oxford blue lynx XZ233 635 So i think if Xtradecal wants to do different colour schemes this year 702 is the place to be
