Managed to get myself an old Hasegawa 1/72 P-47D Razorback

Anygood when compared to the Academy one? It has engraved panel lines so thats a plus and scope for DIY detailing which suits me.

Just wondered about the opinions of others.

The Academy kit is good for a cheap kit, I remember it having some detail in the wheel wells, whereas the Hasegawa one didn't, both go together fine.

The Revell P-47D30 and P-47M are a lot better and the best by a long way is the Tamiya one. Buy the Tamiya one and you'll see what I mean it's money very well spent!

thanks

Mike

The Hasegawa P-47D is ok, but vastly overshadowed by the Tamiya kit. Even the Academy is at least marginally better. Hasegawa's major fault (other than age and typical poor cockpit as was the norm for Hasegawa stuff then) is too small horizontal stabilizers/elevators (chord iirc).

If you already have it and dont want to spring for the Tamiya, it can be built easily and looks like a T-bolt :)

Academy is still quite good (Tamiya way better... but 3x as expensive). You will need, however, to chop off about 3mm from the landing gear as they are over-sized. Aside from that I see no major faults in it.
