airbus320
Hello fellow BMers, I have recently finished this Spitfire PR XI and thought that I would take advantage of the fine weather to take some pictures. Was going to join the STGB but did not think I would finish in time, apparently I build quicker than I thought! The basic airframe is a combo of the falcon vac conversion and the italeri/accidental kit. The rudder is aeroclub, prop is otaki and the late style elevators are from a scrapped hobbycraft seafire. Paint is xtracrylics and decals are from the spares box. The serials are from a letraset sheet and hence are A) the wrong size and skew-whif! It represents an aircraft based at Eindhoven in late-'44. Sources alternately claim that she was either destroyed during boddenplate or went on to serve with the Danish AF post war. Thanks for looking Chris

Lovely Spit, though.

Doug Rogers
Nice work Chris. I used Hasegawa wings for mine, I wonder why most people that do the Falcon kit end up using the Otaki prop? I did on mine, and if I remember rightly Tony Bell did too. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49618
AndyC
A brilliant rendition of that mark of Spitfire- I love the PR marks. Andy
airbus320
Thank you for the kind comments all. That's an interesting point about the spinner Doug. The second I matched up the occidental example to the fuselage I could see it was a non-starter. I happened to have the otaki spinner left over and it seemed to fit perfectly! Shape-wise it looks a lot better too.
Devilfish
Lovely Spitfire, but I don't like the look of the runway. The ruts in it look deadly, lol
