Round 2 models announce 1/350 TOS Enterprise 1701...

Recommended Posts

Just had an email through announcing the release of the the Round 2 polar lights version of the TOS Enterprise 1701, due in 2012.

Round 2 Press Release

Damn annoying though, both editions will only be sold in the US and Canada due to licensing issues.

I wanted to join the 1701 club and pre-order the special edition for $149.99, worth it in my book.

Gonna have to make do with ordering a standard edition from starship modeller.

Why is it unfair licensing?

It is normal business practice to have separate licensing deals for different territorys. It's clear to me there is an existing license in place for Europe, in this case it is quite possibly Revell. Given the ease one can import one self, it's a none issue. Us Europeans get plenty our colonial friends don't.

On the flip side, on your side of the pond you'll be able to get the Revell TOS E & Kingon kits directly. :(

P.S. I have REALLY got to make a new avatar just for this site ;)

CultTVman are listing it at $119.95. So once Amerang have imported it that should be about £1199.50! It is annoying about the special edition ones, but I believe that the extra parts will be made available as an option for the standard kit, so it's all good

I will be buying from starship modeler if I don't see it in this country at a reasonable price.

After import tax and shipping, it usually works out cheaper anyway.

It's very rare I'll buy Moebius/Round 2/ Pegasus in this country. Like you say, it's mealy always cheaper buying direct from the US,

Me too.

The Orion 111 Space Clipper being a case in question I imported three of them at a unit cost of £17.50 including postage. Yet it is retailing at the 'regular outlets' circa thirty nicker, plus an additional 3/4 quid to cover post.

They will probably be the easy style kits and in a smaller scale.

1/600 scale (Enterprise approx 23" long) and not easykits, apparently. Proper glue and paint ones.

As for the 1/350 one, I will definitely want one of these!
