H&S Evo

My H&S Evo is allowing air through the nozzle as soon the compressor is turned on without touching the trigger, the paint comes out as normal when the trigger is pulled back. I'm thinking somethings needing replaced around about the trigger area, the spring perhaps, any suggestions?

There is a problem with the air valve (the bit your hose connects to) preventing it from sealing. It is either VERY dirty or needs a new Spring, internal seal, or upper seal.

If you unscrew the air valve from the airbrush the first thing you will see is the top of the air valve stem & it's seal, make sure that these are clean & that the seal is not swollen. Older brushes have a black seal here which is prone to swelling & causing sticking, newer ones have a white seal is far less problematic.

If you cant find any problem at the top of the valve, remove the quick connect from the bottom of the airbrush & look inside, you will see a brass coloured screw, undo this & the air valve stem (with seal fitted) & internal spring will come out. Check everything is clean & that there is no obvious damage. When you put it back together, you can adjust the spring tension (& consequently trigger down pressure) by varying how tight the screw is.

Thanks very much for your reply, I've taken out the stem etc and given it all a clean, was a bit dirty. I've got the black seal fitted to. Mine, it's undamaged but not sure if it's swollen or not, I don't think so. I've put it all together again and see how I get on. Thanks again.

Murray,

The black seal is the old type that can swell up if you get the agressive cleanersunder the trigger.

This can cause the air valve to stick open.

If you put the o rings somewhere warm they should degass and the valve should behave normally.

Thanks very much for your help, it worked! Gave the air valve a really good clean and put the o ring in a warm place and now it's working as normal.

Cheers
