With a few extra goodies - Aires Cockpit set

P1000153.jpg

And Aires Electronics bay

P1000154.jpg

The first job was to scribe around the panel for the electronics bay, then gradually cut through the plastic (which is very thick - approx 1.2mm). I then fitted the electronics bay, which worked better with a small plasticard shim, but it still looks quite neat.

P1000155.jpg

Then sanded down the cockpit floor and sides and checked the fit using blu-tac and tape

P1000156.jpg

However I needed to sand more off one side for the nose gear bay to fit. However once that was done it fits reasonably well

P1000157.jpg

Finally on with some painting - first sprayed the cockpit Aircraft Grey (or XF20 Medium Grey in tamiya), and an oil wash to pick out some of the details.

P1000158.jpg

Then started painting the panels - still quite a lot of work to do on this, but it's coming along...

Looking good, I've had the same project semi started for some time now. The detail on the resin is just amazing.

I keep dry fitting and fettling the cockpit and nosewheel bays, but I'm still not happy with the fit. Glad to see it does all go together though :thumbsup2:

Any thoughts on markings?

Steve.

Then buttoned up the fuselage, and put the nose wheel bay in. Managed to get a glue fingerprint on the nose bay, but I can sort that out later
