wkennerley Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Hi All - Whilst paint is drying on the kittyhawk and hawk, I thought I would start a military vehicle kit for the GB - Revell's 1/76 Morris truck with 17 pdr and jeep -
rkennerley Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 are you doing the street and buildings as well?
wkennerley Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 are you doing the street and buildings as well? Oh yes - I started work on them today, sitting on the patio in the sun with a belgian cider and BBQ! Wayne

CliffB Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Wayne, if you get a spare moment is there any chance that you could come round and re-point the slabs on my patio? Nice work so far! Cliff

Graham77 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Very nice, looking forward to seeing how the vehicles turn out. As has been said the brickwork looks excellent and extra points for building with a bbq and cider thats the way to do it.
prowler0000 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I remember this! It`s the Matchbox 3-colour kit from way back...... this looks like the best build & paint job of it i`ve seen! Nice work, sir!!!!
It'sAllGoneHorriblyWrong Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 A diorama in a box - that's the way to do it. I might look one of these up myself...
Peter Marshall Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Ah the good old Matchbox AFV kits - looking great so far..
robw_uk Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 this is a blast from the past... am sure either my brother or I built this many many years ago.... and the dioramas.... tempted to look up a kit like this just for a break from aircraft......

I have one of these in the roof. Trouble is if I go up there to hunt for it, just think of all the other boxes I'll find, open, fondle, think "Would'nt take long to build this", start, ignore, put back in the roof...................... Jasonb13 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Yep, used to love the Matchbox 'Tank Dioramas' myself, always felt like you were getting more for your hard earned money! Only have 3 kits in my 'stash' so not much options for me there! Oh, and the build's looking great by the way, the brickwork is excellent and the three different vechicles really add a bit of variety to the scene... J.
topgear29 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 That takes me back my old dad always got me a matchbox kit on his way home from work from the corner papershop on pay-day. And a great build.
wkennerley Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) All done, I quite enjoyed this build so now to dig out Monty's Caravan - I may have to acquire some more of these diorama kits - Does anyone know of a list online of what diorama kits Matchbox made? Wayne Edited May 14, 2011 by wkennerley
Jasonb13 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 That's a lovely build Wayne, great attention to detail and weathering. Really like the dirt on the vehicles and the burnt shop front / window frames! J.
jimbuna Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Very nice...here are a few links: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&am...-All-Categories http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MATCHBOX-1-72-M3-TAN...=item35b1fa854e http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Matchbox-1-7...=item23101d05aa http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Matchbox-1-7...=item2c5c29f574
wkennerley Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Thanks Jimbuna and jasonb13 - Boy they seem to be expensive, at least I have the Monty's caravan to start for now Wayne
It'sAllGoneHorriblyWrong Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I'm open to correction, but it is my understanding that all of the current Revell 1/76 vehicles are ex-Matchbox. Andy
