Graham77 Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) This is my entry for the GB its AMT's 2009 1/24th Corvette. I am going to be away from the modelling bench for the next 3 weeks watching all of you getting on with your builds with envy. Hopefully when I get back it should go together fairly quickly. There is no engine to build so that should speed things up and the chassis and running gear from underneath is molded in one piece. Hopefully I'll get some pics of the bits in the box done this evening and post them over the next couple of days. Watch this space Cheers Graham Edited June 4, 2011 by Graham77
Graham77 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 OK I am now back at the modelling bench after a trip away from home for the first half of this GB. Here are the pics of the Corvette so far. It is a showroom model so there is no engine to build which is a shame, although with only 3 weeks to go its probably for the best so I can at least finish my entry in a GB I am helping to host. The all important box and sprue shot. They have printed all the decals twice so that you can make a mess of it the first time and have replacements ready for you.... its like this kit was produced wth me in mind Firstly I added the front and rear bumpers to the bodyshell and the discs to the chassis The wheels fit through the chassis on a small steel rod and having seen loads of these vettes on my travels I am going to leave the chrome wheels as they came out of the box as most of the wheels I saw actually where this chromed and I don't have the spare time to strip these back and redo them (or the paint for that matter) All of this and the interior is now being primed ready for some colour. I am trying to decide whether to go with red, the box blue, an orange/brass colour or gloss black (I have a hawk to do this colour so would be kind of a practice for that). The seats and interior are fairly standard and could do with a little colour so I may do some quick online searching for good exterior/interior combinations for this car. There is no glazing for the doors so you should be able to see in fairly easily. More importantly I have to get it all finished so hopefully as Peter has set a good example at the start of the build I can try and encourage some of the builds on page 2 to join me on page 1 and hopefully get a load more models in the completed gallery. Happy Building all Graham
Graham77 Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Nearly finished Chassis and Wheels Interior and seats Dashboard Completed interior and chassis and the bodyworks first coat of paint Just needs another coat and the glass, couple of decals and then putting together and she'll be ready for the display shelf Cheers for looking Graham
Graham77 Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 And she is done at the eleventh hour, carpet monster pinched one of the rear lights so i filled it with some pva and left the blob to dry seems to have turned out OK. Jasonb13 Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Looking good Graham, I've never done a car before, that's a nice finish to it! And just before the deadline too! J.
