Jb65rams Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) I will be having a go at the Sword 1:72 Chance Vought "Flying Pancake" John Edited May 23, 2011 by Jb65rams
Micha Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 lol ... kinda stealth bomber? Never seen it before ^^
Basosz Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 That is AWESOME !!! Never knew there was a kit for this ! Excellent choice !! One of the more bizarre planes ever (in a long line of weird planes )
daz greenwood Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 For those that haven't heard of this a/c before check this out.
Graham77 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Never seen one of those before and it didn't even make it into my little book of weird and wonderful aeroplanes, looking forward to seeing it take shape Graham
Jb65rams Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 What's in the box? Not a lot, a single sprue and some resin. Hasn't come out in the photo, but also includes two vacuform canopies. (no spares!). Also the propeller blades resemble a swiss cheese. Progress to date, started painting the cockpit.
Peter Marshall Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Nice clean start there, looking forward to more.
tim dix Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Im looking forward to seeing this one done, Looks like its going to be a beaut already. Keep it up. Tim
Jb65rams Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Prgress is not as fast as some here. Cockpit has been completed and the installed. The control surfaces are butt jointed, so I will be strengthening them by pinning them with bits of paper clip.
Micha Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Prgress is not as fast as some here. don't worry ... I still not started yet
Peter Marshall Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Nice progress - don't worry about speed, it's not a race.
Jb65rams Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 The major construction is compete. Time for some paint. Had a bit of a knightmare masking the canopies and getting them to fit. The canopies where very thin, was scared of puncturing them when trying to trim the masking tape. John
Jb65rams Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 After a couple of weeks away from the modelling bench, I finally got around to starting to applying some paint. This model will see a couple of firsts for me, the use of alclad and the attempt to reproduce natural wood finish for the propeller blades. jb
Martian Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Someone does a 48th kit pancake i'm sure? Yes. Sword do, or did it. I made it a few years back and had a ball with it. Martin
Jb65rams Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Progress continues. I am please with my first attempt at wood effect for the propellers. Had a nightmare with the yellow, not sure what I did wrong but it didn't spray well.
Jb65rams Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Finished. It fought me the end, have already broken a couple of blades off. I have enjoyed my first group build, actually got something finished. More photos in the completed builds folder. John
Jasonb13 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 That's cool looking, such a unqiue build! And as said already, the wooden props look excellent. Nice work! J.
robw_uk Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 saw this in th finished thread and just had to come look at it again... it is brilliant - love the colour......
Royster Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Good grief that looks odd but you've made it look a cracker!
