here is the cockpit floor and seats dry brushed and weathered. l got a set of RB Productions Sutton A belts coming so the seats can not be attached until l get those installed

Picture024a.jpg

also detailed the sides last night too while it was quiet here

Picture025a.jpg

had to put then in the fuselage halves to see how they looked

Last night l start to attach the right side to the floor and realized that l am short in the front and the firewall won't fit so some modifications are in order. seeing that it is somewhat hidden l am going to cut off the engine bearers then attach the firewall then attach the engine bearers to it and that should solve my problem. l can not but it all together as l had said above l have to wait until my Sutton harnesses arrive in the mail

that is all for a bit until then

small update

well l got my RB Productions sutton harness but it seems l need glue for it. Thanks to andrewfl290 advice l have ordered some gator glue so the project is on hold for the time being until it arrives then we can continue that build so in the meanwhile l will haul out the Ta 151H l been working on and try to finish that one

Well this weekend l assembled the Sutton A harness for my Tigermoth using the magnifying glass in my desk lamp to see all these very tiny parts. I am now officially blind !! :P

picture27.jpg

picture26.jpg

But the results are well worth it!! B) I now have to move on to the instrument panels as they are accurate but needs some added detail.

That is all for now

Got some more work done on this but it is not ready for posting just yet (needs paint) but l have been debating about paint schemes for this plane still, either a aluminum dope RN aircraft or dark earth/dark green over trainer yellow like on the box but slightly different or

this one but l am still not sure. What do you guys think? I want to go with a military scheme

Well l got my Airscale Generic WW2 Dial decal sheet and proceeded to do the instrument panel

Picture30a.jpg

after all that work on the cockpit putting in the kit version of the would be shameful at least to me. Here is the modifications I did to one compared to the other and the parts

picture31a.jpg

After assembly l painted them satin black. After l painted the bezels silver I punched out some white decal film to put in the instruments just in case. Once that was done l used the appropriate instruments. The using some thin brass shim material l punched out some bezels for the compass

picture33.jpg

I dare say came out not too bad. Now to there all of this into the fuselage halves. Wish me luck

Hi Hacker, watching this one with interest as i built this early last year though out of the box and no where near as nice as yours, great work on the cockpit!

Not sure if you are going with the kit option for the camo version but if you do the lower codes could do with cutting right down to lose the backing film as i got a lot of silvering here other than that they were good decals so could just be my lack of experience.

Also i ended up drilling the ends of the struts and mounting fuse wire pins in them as the kit mounts are terrible and with the benefit of hindsight would have glued the centre struts to the top wing first as these are a real pain to get a good fit later on, i ended up prising them away from the fuselage where i had glued them to get them to attach to the top wing. Saying that though it was probably my lack of experience and looking at what your doing sure you will not have the same issues.

Oh and the kit canopies are probably way to thick and not a good fit against the fuselage..

Pic of mine below, though not that good.

Keep up the great work on this! Cheers, Stuart

Well some more progress on the Tigermoth. l got the cockpit glued in and about to close it all in but l thought l would take a picture of it before l did. I also got the wings glued together so the decision about what to paint is coming to a head quickly. I better make up my mind :P

ok that is all for now

Well what scheme l am going to do this in became academic as the clear parts for the winterized canopy is broke and l do not have a replacement. So the question l am putting here to you guys is to do a BCTP aircraft in Canada did they used the canopy all year round but only in the winter?

Nice work Hacker. Personally I'd go with the aluminium dope RN machine as the single overall colour will show the nice lines of this machine and that scheme is not often seen.

Thanks I had thought about that but going with a Canadian bird. Speaking of which while stewing over my dilemma with the broken canopy a thought came to mind. Seeing that it is pretty much square what if l just cut out the broken glass and glue the frame work back together and put a new window in? Seeing the wife works nights l got up to see what could be done

picture40.jpg

here is the broken canopy as l found it in the separate bag.

picture41.jpg

using my razor saw and my PE saw set from RB Productions (by the way very highly recommended for this and cutting out panels and such) l cut the glass out

picture43.jpg

picture42.jpg

once l cut that out l super glued the frame work together and let cure over night. This morning l filed and sanded it until l got this. Now the question is how do l attach the clear plastic to it without it fogging or being distorted?? Got any suggestions? I have gator glue wondering if that would work?

picture38.jpg

in the meantime l have the fuselage halves glued together now l am in the process of adding some bits to it so l can prime it and see what my mistakes are

Anyways that is all for now

hacker,

It is extremely lovely to follow your thread..

The smaller parts are gelling together and it is coming together quite beautifully.

Neat work and good updates.

interesting and informative and not boring at all. :speak_cool::pilot:

short update

while trying to put the thinner wing struts on l found one of them broken. Dam!!!. l was going to put on two of the wider ones but then while searching my spare parts draws l found two yellow struts that l believe came from a Lindburg 1/48 kit. Low and behold they were the same size shape and thickness.

picture46.jpg

picture45.jpg

once l glued those on and the rudder it was time to paint. Here is the Tiger Moth with one coat of Floquil grey primer and two coats of Humbrol 24 trainer yellow. It is still the closest colour to the RAF/RCAF yellow used on all the BCTP aircraft

There will be more as l am currently painting the upper wing

Looking good,

The cockpit looks much better than it does straight from the box. The Yellow looks flawless too.

Every time I see the work done on yours it makes me want to get out the one I've started and progress it further.

short update: I put one more coat of Trainer Yellow on the Tiger Moth and then l painted all the landing gear and struts black. Then l attached the landing struts to the plane.

Picture47.jpg

picture48.jpg

picture49.jpg

here is what it looks like now. Thinking needs another coat of future before l decal. Still debating to do either a BCTP Moth from Hamilton Ontario or do the RCN version both having the same paint scheme. I have to come up with the RCN roundels yet. Just for fun l put the top wing on just to see how it looks.

That's all for now

l moved on to the engine for this build. All in all the engine is pretty good as a basic shape but lacked detail so seeing l am going to have the cowl side panels opened l needed to add some details

picture50.jpg

picture51.jpg

picture52.jpg

First l added some bits and bobs of plastic to it in an effort to bring it to life. Mostly spruced up air intake manifold and the rear

picture53.jpg

picture54.jpg

picture55.jpg

picture56.jpg

picture57.jpg

I then painted the cylinders flat black and the rocker arm covers gloss black. The engine block was painted a gloss grey. I replaced the molded on push rods on the rocker arm covers with stainless steel as it would make it look the part better. The rest l detailed it with bits of soldier, copper wire and black wiring. The exhaust l painted first with Testors steel then dried brushed it with rust and flat black. This took me all week just to build

It may not be perfect rendition of the real thing but l think it is better then what l had to start with.

ok that is all for now
