Mike
Camo Netting, UK Woodland & Desert 1:35 Eduard Disruptive camo netting is an essential aid in hiding static or stationary military equipment, fooling snooping enemies into thinking they're looking at a tree, rocks or shrubbery. For modellers, it's been quite tricky to replicate, and has often included sprinkling mixed herbs over threadbare crepe bandages, or similar. Until now, that is. Eduard have produced 9" x 5.25" sheets of very fine etched brass netting, which is pre-painted on both sides. It is a scale representation of the Barracuda Camouflage system that has been developed by SAAB of Sweden, and is being used increasingly by the British and other armed forces, particularly in large panels on armoured vehicles, which in combination with insulation reduces the interior temperature of vehicles by several degrees. The Woodland pattern is olive green with black splodges over its surface, and a plain green on the reverse, while the Desert pattern is similar to the British Desert DPM pattern, consisting of two shades of light brown, which is replicated on the reverse. The curious little "leaves" that are cut from the material are all present, and can be individually curled into shape with the end of the blade or cocktail stick if you wish. The mesh is incredibly thin, at around 0.5mm, so very flexible and easy to cut with a pair of scissors. It should also drape realistically with a little coaxing, conforming nicely to the surface of anything underneath. We understand that further camo types will be forthcoming in due course, and are expecting some examples of US types in the next month or so. We'll update this review when they arrive.
